Thanks for this "bump" Koh!

I have gained weight and lost weight and gained weight all through my life. The thinnest I was was 76kg and the fattest 106kg which was this year. Last year I decided to give away all my "thin" clothes because I thought I would never be thin again. Believe me I am now really sorry as I would be fitting into my size 16 now, I think, and would still have lots to wear.

I have only bought 1 trac pants, out of desperation and some long sleeve tops as it is winter here now. I would love to buy new clothes but somehow have a mental block. I am scared I am going to try on smaller sizes and then they don't fit. I know this sounds stupid but I used to HATE buying new clothes and seeing myself in those mirrors in the change rooms that showed every bit of fat, and having to buy bigger and bigger sizes. So at the moment I am still wearing some of my lose fitting clothes but I am starting to look like a clown now with these lose clothes.

I am going to be brave this weekend and go and buy myself a pair of jeans that fit, no elastic in the waist, and 1 or 2 nice jackets. I totally agree with pandora that wearing the right size clothes can do magic for your self image. Let the new me shine through!!!!

Amen to that, Roxy - go show your new self to yourself - and ENJOY !!!

Then sit back as your brain goes into overload, trying to keep up with the new, svelte, lissom wee girl that you are becoming !!! (Is lissom a word? I think it is - vaguely - don't know where it came from, but it sounds right - but maybe spelled wrong? ah well...)

Hey, Roxy - settle for just ONE - unless you are planning one in today's size, and one in tomorrow's... It won't be much more than a month before you will be scratching for "the next size down" - so, go easy on the credit card right now - there'll be "time enough" real soon

Buying new clothes really does help motivate you to stay on track, because they show off your new figure and earn you lots of compliments! Plus, when the old ones get too baggy, sometimes the way they gape and billow can make them a little more revealing than you might be prepared for!

But new clothes don't have to be the most expensive. I bought jeans for $29 today, and the style they were in was gratifyingly termed "skinny fit". Haha. I've never been able to buy skinny anything in Singapore, where the majority of the people are matchstick thin and have feet like teaspoons!

Hi all
I've been throwing out my big clothes and buying new clothes all along. I find that "new clothes" are too small for a week then fit for two weeks then start sliding down ( pants) for the next two weeks intill I buy more. But in that week when they actually fit I feel fantastic. I complain about them falling down but I'm really delighted about it all! I can't wait to reach my natural size so I can start building a really nice wasrdrobe that will fit for years to come.

I am a hoarder so at home I have those large plastic tubs full of clothes - one tub for each size from size 8 upwards (oddly, although that was a long time ago, I tend to buy classic stuff and most of it will still be wearable). I've been on holidays for over 4 weeks and the clothes I brought are falling off me. I am trying to lose some debt along with the kgs so won't be hitting the shops too much - instead I am looking forward to opening the treasure chest at home and seeing what fits me again!

It will be nice to wear suits to work again instead of separates to hide the bulges...

Otherwise I will be looking for bargains to tide me over - no expensive purchases until I hit Europe in March - and if I am not at goal then I will have to buy a little smaller so I can wear them forever...

One thing that occurred to me is that it would be good to have a clothes swap meet so we can donate our now too large clothes and get smaller ones? Even those at goal might get some new clothes from it as everyone's goals are different.. I know some of my stuff is barely worn now!!

Perhaps the clinic could organise an evening or weekend??

Bargain Alert:Try Kmart for some plain, long sleeve tops/t-shirts. Normally $8 they are currently $6 each. Vneck or round. Just be aware that some are stretch (they have a sticker on them - very tightfitting!!) others are normal (I prefer). The sizings are large - smallest size is a 10 and I am wearing that. The sizes go from 10 to at least 22 so lots of variety and at the price perhaps worth getting some in next size down to put in the drawer??Oh they are also a good long length so won't expose any tums!!

Isn't it interesting that we really don't see the change in ourselves - but notice it in others. At least the clothes sizes tell the story - thats why we keep changing sizes!!!!

I wore a size 12 when we came to Australia (2 years ago), then put on weight until I had to buy a size 16. Lost 17kgs and had to buy size 10 after that. Yes, what a fantastic feeling and I couldn't believe it!!! I went overboard on the buying, as I first bought bigger clothes, gave away the smaller clothes that didn't fit (luckily I kept a few favourite items) and then I had to buy smaller again.

In any case, a few months and 2 holidays later I'm back into the size 12 trousers. Not too happy about it, trying to get rid of at least 5kgs.

My cupboards are overloaded with clothes, I just have too much!! With the weight gain and then loss I am now too scared to get rid of anything in case I need it again. I want another baby, so want to keep the bigger looser fitting things (at least for now).

Hi everyone,

I recall when I started the program, I was a size 20! After about 3 months (I think) I went shopping as I was getting by on the bare basics (shorts and shirts). I grabbed a pair of size 16 jeans thinking that I was around about that size, to my absolute amazement these just hung off of me. They wouldn't stay up! I was so happy that I could go back out of the change rooms and grab the size 14 and they looked fantastic. I walked out of the shop and couldn't wait to wear them. It really is amazing what little things like that can do for you! So yes I totally agree, go and get a NEW amazing outfit for yourself!

I read the post on emotions of wearing fat clothes and totally agree. For me the problem is entirely different. So far I have come from a 22 to 24 in big girl shops. At the moment I have everything from 18 to 12's in normal sizes in my cupboard. I have decided with my husbands support and blessing that as soon as something is loose and baggy it is gone. This is stop me during maintainance phase "creeping" back into my comfy fat clothes. I've done it before - you know oh its only 5kgs and my jeans still fit theyre just tight! Before long 5kg is 10 and I'm never going to do that again. All fat clothes and fat emotions are gone.

I was worried about the waste as I hav hardly worn some of them and am to busy to organise sales but a friend of mine suggested giving them to the womens shelter which I thought was a great idea.

Keep up the good work and always have a "too tight'pair of pants youve set a goal to get into. That's my tip. Wango

I too was worried about the waste having a whole heap of sort of new clothes - but really all I shoudl be worried about is my waist and just let the clothes go, along with the old me.
