Default Tips for drinking water.

  • Dont try to drink lots of very cold water, drink water at room temp, some recommend drinking warm water.
  • Drink water when you first wake in the morning, eg 500~1000mls
  • Always have water around you at work so you are always sipping on it, it is amazing how much you can drink in a 9 hour work day just sipping

Does anyone else have any tips?

Default Tips for drinking water.

Keep 2x 1.5L bottles one at work (always!) and one as a portable bottle which goes from home to your car.
Make sure you drink the entire contents of both bottles - the "Work" one at work, and the "Portable" you can drink from as soon as you wake up, then take it with you (if you drive), to and from work or your daily destinations.

The trick is to make sure both bottles are emptied!

I bring a 1.5 ltr bottle to work every day and drink that before lunch at 1pm, then buy a 1.25 ltr at lunch which lasts me the afternoon. Then when I get home my treat is to have a glass of Sprite Zero or Diet Dry Ginger Ale with dinner. So I'm treating myself with stuff I'm allowed anyway!

I have a 1.5l bottle on my desk. I make sure it is gone by lunch. I refill out of our water cooler and drink the 2nd bottle before I go home. That's 3 litres and anything else I drink is a bonus. Always carry a small bottle with me in the car etc. The water is at room temperature, not cold.

I have adopted this and it works. I have one bottle in the office and one in the kitchen. When travelling I take both.

I empty at the end of the day any left to be accurate.

We have a water filter at work, and whenever I go to fill my BIG glass up (probably every hour), I have half a glass of water when I'm at the filter and then fill up my glass again to go back to my desk.
I've always drunk alot of water, so its not so hard for me to get in my daily amount, particularly when I'm at work. I can't cope without having water with me at all times!

I find it a bit of a mental struggle to drink from the 1.5lt bottles so I buy six packs of 600ml bottles and drink between 4 and 6 of them per day. So that's 2.4 - 3.6 litres. I find that it is really easy to get through. Quickly fills up the recycling bin though!!!!

I start with 1 x 600ml with breakfast. I drink 2 more by lunch time. I then have generally 1 more in the afternoon and then the other 2 whilst watching tv at night. I find with the smaller bottles if I really have to I can drink one in about 2 goes. It gets it down quicker!!!

Cheers

I use the 750ml pump bottles and drink up to 4 a day. Luckily I have cool filtered water at both home and the office, so I refill and only buy a new bottle when needed. I find it very easy to go through the 750ml sized bottles, and I know exactly how much I'm having each day. On top of that I might have a glass of soft drink, but only if I'm doing well with the water that day. Soft drink fills me up too much and makes me not want to drink the water.

Something to think about on drinking water. My daughter has lost weight and while checking out fitnese on web sites and from her Biology teacher. It is I guess a good thing to drink cold water as the body has to warm it up there for burning more calories to do so. I know on Cohen we are trying to burn fat. But I thought everyone might want the info. on the calorie thing as well. It's not going to burn alot but it will help over time.
Just some thoughts to ponder.

Update on water.

From those who watch my diary they will know water was the biggest challenge.

Well 14 weeks on and I have it beat by following this:

Get up and have herbal tea (peppermint) as my clinic counts this as water. So you have 250ml.

Using a Coles Natural Mineral Water (79c for 1.25 litre) I pure a mix of 25% mineral water to 75% normal water into another empty Coles 1.25l and do it twice. So we have 2.5litre.

I drink these during the day. The mineral water tastes sweet to me, almost like lemonade. Bonus is avoiding muscle cramps.

End the day with another Herbal Tea 250ml and bingo 3 litres down.

I also have as many DECAF coffee black with half a sugarine tab as I wish. That is my treat. They don’t count but are yummy. Without the mineral water I feel over full.

FYI, Peter

PS I have Nespresso Coffee Machine so it is very good quality decaf.

Interesting that your clinic counts peppermint tea as water...............my clinic does not.

I found I had no trouble with drinking 3L plus a day when it was summer, but now that it's winter I'm struggling a bit. Just don't have the same need to reach for a glass of water and really have to push in the last 1/2L towards dinner time.
