Great advice Babytime, i just wish more dog owners would train their dogs instead of having a useless piece of cr*p that no one wants to deal with cos it is in the to hard basket, and that annoys the neighbours no end. in my life i would have been lucky to come across 10 dogs that are well behaved and have responsible owners.Congrats on taking a stance and teaching your dog right from wrong, we do it with children so why dont people do it with their unrulely mutts, and that is in NO WAY AT ALL having a go at Garden Godess it is just a general observation from a person that sees it the way it is, cheers

Isn't it funny how they all have their own personalities.

My Ollie barked a few weeks ago and we all jumped, then looked at each other stunned. Ran to the door to see what was the matter, but alas, nothing...

I think he did bark once or twice last year, too... Not sure how often, though...

Funny thing is, when he's at Puppygranny and puppygramps' house (my inlaws) he is really protective and runs to their screen door and growls WITH HACKLES UP!!! whenever another dog walks past. The first time he did it we all fell about laughing.. poor thing...

He spends most of his time in his puppynest under our dining table (he has a big squishy bed under there) or in the middle of the lounge room rug with his legs in the air, waiting for someone to rub his belly...

The most AMAZING thing he did was, when he was at his grampses. There was a Rotty walking past, on a lead, and he JUMPED their front fence, ran to the Rotty, nipped it's ankle, woofed once, then jumped back over the fence!!! It was astonishing. I was in Melbourne over Xmas at the time and simply did NOT believe it when told.

I have a theory that he can sense that my inlaws are frail and they 'need his protection', whereas we are his Alphas and therefore need no assistance...

Anyway, that's my thunking.

Oh, that's so funny about Ollie jumping the fence and then jumping back.

Your thunking is prolly right on, he wants to protect grampses, but knows you will protect him when he's at home.

Just had a dog walk past and did my thing with Jamie, and he stopped once I told him good job and gave him a pat. I just wish I could've saved the lizard my other dog decided to kill yesterday.

Thanks for your help you lot !!!!
Isn't it lovely to chat about dogs when you love 'em so much.
You're a crack up Jacin ! NO I don't take offence. I know what you mean about maniac dogs , and I don't like them any more than you do. The thing is the poor little buggers are a danger to THEMSELVES as well....just as likely to bolt out on the street. My baby girl will be back in boot camp as soon as her sutures are taken out.
How smart is your Ollie , Asy. Is he a blue heeler or similar ? They are one BRIGHT breed , that lot.

Ollie is a blue heeler - whippet cross. Well, we think whippet... No idea, but he is a very whippetesque bluey. hehe

He's an extraordinarily intelligent dog. Amazingly so. But he HATES being left home by himself. He's really great with everything, even our Rats. The rats ride him around, he's called the "Rat Bus". And he loves a cuddle. VERY protective of Stephie and I, and definitely my baby.

He never runs out onto the street, even if the front door's open he'll walk onto the front steps and won't set one paw on the steps without permission Even if I walk down the stairs, he'll look at me longingly until I say he's allowed to follow. He's toooo cool.

nah, not that big a place, only 380 odd acres...

Seriously, though, unfortunately we don't get there as often as I'd like, but the cabin's nearly done, so we'll be there a lot more soon.

But it's OK, internet's already connected!!!
