Re: Crumbed Calamari
Just buy a couple of squid tubes from the supermarket deli - it's great coz it is a cheap meal. Then you can cut as you wish (they are already cleaned out) either into strips or into rings..
Warning - cook until they curl a bit this only takes a few seconds maybe up to a minute max otherwise they will be tough!

Yummy!
Thanks Hexi2 for sharing your crumbed calamari. Just had it for lunch and it was delish! Only extra thing I did was add some dried chilli flakes into the bag to have a bit of a "zing."

yep Hexi
Another very satisfied customer - lovely and light and I was surprised how much there was - guess it is thin and light - beauitful with my largely green salad. Next time i think one cracker will do the job. Thanks Shanara

To all you Calamari Freaks
Can anyone tell me how to get the thin clear skin off the outside of the calamari tube. Even when you buy cleaned calamari tubes they still have a very thin film on them and i've found if you don't remove it, no matter how long you cook them for they still turn out tough. Any help and ideas would be appreciated. |

Hi Kezza
I haven't taken that fine skin off except where it comes off easily by peeling back. The secret for me to making this tender is to only cook for a very short time - around 1 minute else it goes tough. As soon as it starts to become opaque and curl its ready. Also lots of lemon juice is a definite good move - vinegar just doesn't do it. Good luck Shanara

Thanks Shanara - I'll try that - I'm probably cooking for too long. Not much use in the kitchen. My darling other half is the cook in our household.
