Getting back into my jeans...
I am not sure I am doing this in the right spot, so apologies and please move it if its not! I started on Monday and have found this forum a GREAT help to compare symptoms (headaches, thirst, hunger, tired etc). I am doing the program as a friend lost 30 kilos on it, and is like a new man. I am doing it because I am sick of being on a "diet". I have spent the last 4 years of my life on a diet and haven't lost any weight! I am sick of looking at cupboards full of clothes that don't fit me anymore, but I haven't thrown out yet because I am sure they will fit me "when i finish this diet". Even blind Nelly can see the pattern there! So I am on Day 3, and staying focussed. (although, yes thirsty despite drinking enough water..) BUT.. I do need some advice! I have a 4 day conference from 13-17 August... next weekend!! Help! It's interstate, and catered. I have spoken to the organisers and they have given me a run down of the catering, but I will be guessing as best I can weights etc. Surely other people here have been to a conference while on the program and can offer me some advice? Breakfast - I am going to take boiled eggs and some vegies cut up and weighed in bags, and Ill just eat them in my room (there is a minibar!) Lunch and dinner... help? Is guessing going to set me way back? Bad timing I know!! Thanking you in advance! Penny |

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Wow! Big decisions. My suggestion is that since you are so early in the programme and your body is still settling into this way of eating, pack a chilly bin and take all your food with you.

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Hey Penny
I would say that so early in the program I wouldnt be doing any guessing. Is a buffet style or a sit down meal for lunch. If sit down talk to the organisers - tell them you are on a medically prescribed diet by your doctor due to food allergies and insulin levels blah blah - youknow what I mean as ask if you can give them your lunchtime meal. Even if its the same for 5 days be safer bet. If they not happy with that - I would take your scales and use your mini bar fridge - salad and tuna is always a good safe bet. Check out location there maybe a supermarket nearby where you can just stock up for a couple of day. Also get you out in the fresh air Not sure if this helps in anyway - good luck and welcome on board. x |

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Hi Penny
I'm on day 3 too! So far I'm doing OK, some pretty strange flu-like symptoms but no headaches which I'm relieved about. Haven't really being doing this for long enough to give you any sound advice but I know for me I want to be completely deviation free for the first month at least, which means I need to control every meal. Good luck! |

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Thank you all so much!! I am feeling better about it now. Its mostly buffet style, so I will pick well.. I am going to take as much preweighed and labeled food as I can, and try and nick back to my room to eat, rather than eating with the group. There is one 3 course meal though - so I will have to be good! (good practive i figure as well..) My clinic got back in touch with me as well and told me it wasnt the end of the world, so that is a relief. I am going to take my prescription with me, and you never know, the hotel may be able to help me out when i get there. Fingers crossed!
waterbaby - good luck to you too! I want to stick to it 100% as well, which is why I am sad about the conference! Damn work interfering! But, I will try my best. Keep in touch with how you are going! Are you thirsty? The more I drink, the more I want to drink. Not sure if that means i was just really dehydrated before, and my thirst register has just switched on now I am not putting food in my face instead of drinking! Thanks again guys!! I am looking forward to losing my first few kilos so hope this doesnt put me back too far! I can't rememeber the last time I lost weight. |

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Hi Pezzaburza
Have just found out I have a client dinner on Monday 16th and thought of you - if you can survive a whole conference I can definately survive one little dinner. Still very nervous though and have been furiously googling menus trying to figure out where will be safe. I have been really thirsty - especially at night. I'm waking up two or three times a night to pee and drink water (which is a bit of a vicious cycle really). Good luck for the weekend! |

Re: Getting back into my jeans...
Waterbaby you will be fine! WE will be fine! Both eating out on the same night.. Ha! I have been paying close attention to what the cooked quantities of proteins looks like, so I can best guess meals I can't self cater.
I am drinking loads still - figure its my body getting rid of the toxic matter that has been locked in cells. In good news though, headaches have stopped and my boyfriend told me he thought I had lost weight (well, he actually said my cheeks looked smaller...), so I stood on the scales - 1.5 kilos off!! I was GOBSMACKED!! It was the motivation I needed that this program works!! Good luck with the dinner (and yes for the weekend as well) As I was once told at a weightwatchers meeting "Don't let your weekend be your weak end" |
