Default Needing some wise words...

Morning all,

This week has been a bad week, lack of sleep, eating late and so far a very sh*t loss on the scales (like under a kg).

AS much as we know this happens i cant help but feel very disheartened, i had a goal to hit by 12 weeks and no way i can pull that out with this weeks loss.

Anyway, the last two mornings ive woken up with a very very sore tummy, like an ache!! The last two nights i have eaten my dinner after 8pm, with a peice of fruit and wonder if this has anything to do with it.

This week ive also started using a HOT curry powder (same brand as what i was using), and ive changed my chilli flakes to to chilli powder....really struggling with my water intake, lucky if i get 1 litre a day!!!

I wonder if the pains come from needing to (TMI) go to the toilet bu not being able to ??? Ive noticed this has slowed down alot since the first month!!!

Any words on the above would be appreciated, feeling pretty glum this morning.

Hi Nicole, I don't have any wise words or anything, but try to think in different terms than not making your goal in 12 weeks. By doing that, you minimise your achievement so far & that's just bad news girl! Spend a moment looking back at what you have done so far & just ask will it really matter if you are 1, 2 or even 3 weeks late? By that stage you will be so close anyway!

I regularly eat my dinner around 8 or after & dont have a problem, but I do generally have a 'crampy' kind of stomach in the lead-up to BM (TMI). Water could be playing a big part in that, (ahem, dry vs 'normal'?)

Remember the HGH needs water to get rid of our fat so we can pee it out. If we're not drinking enough I assume this cant work the same, slow losses? 'The more you pee, the skinnier you'll be'

Shanara (I think) wrote a neat post on plataeuing. She referred to it as Integration, as our bodies need a chance to catch up with what we've been doing & prepare themselves for the next loss. Thought that was a pretty cool term, much more positive.

Above all, you are a source of inspiration to many here, including myself, so don't let the glum thinking get hold, 'cos we all know what happens then!

Hi Nicole,

There are a few things in your post that would be slowing your weight loss but the good news is that they are all temporary and easy to address:

1. Drink your water! Have warm water if you need or herbal teas. The body NEEDS water to lose the weight. And it will make you constipated when you don't.
2. Go to bed early if you can. You can never underestimate the power of sleep on weight loss. It is so important.
3. Check your curry powder is Cohen's approved. Lots of people have used ones that aren't and it affects their weight.
4. Try Senna tea to help get things moving again. Constipation does impact the weight you see on the scale so make some mental allowances for this.
4. Let go of rigid weight loss goals. Your body will release the weight when it can.
5. Stress less, it is ironic that you stressing about the lack of movement on the scales will actually slow it down more. Don't underestimate the impacts of stress on weight loss.
6. Your body holds fluid when it reshapes and consolidates its losses. The weeks you have the slowest weight losses are often the ones when you fit into a smaller size.
7. Trust in the program and don't get disheartened. It can lead to deviations very quickly and I can guarentee that will not speed up your weight loss.
8. Ease up on the spicy foods for a little while and see if it makes your tummy feel better.
9. Give yourself a big hug, take a deep breath, know it is ok
10. Stay off the scales for a while. Only weigh daily if the number you see isn't going to mess with you. I gained some weeks and I was deviation free throughout my journey.

Quick question, are you having diet soft drinks, sugar free gum or artificial sweetners? Pain relivers? These things spike my weight overnight by up to 2 kilos.

It will be ok and your weight will move again.

All the best

Butterfly

Nicole, you are going so well and if I remember correctly you did post in your diary last week that one day your weight will slow - well maybe that week has arrived but as Butterfly said (along with all the other wonderful advice), I wouldn't be surprised if your body is reshaping so be prepared for some noticable changes in your body shape.

As for the going to the loo, try some kiwifruit.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Nicole.
Above is extremly good advise for you to ponder.
I know myself that water is a MUST and you certainly need to drink plenty.
It helps with going to the toilet as does the herbal tea (ALPINE TEA).I usually drink that in the evening. The clinic advised that.
Staying off the scales is a good idea too.I only weigh monthly as i get very disheartened otherwise.
Its a great program and you are doing extremly well after 12 weeks.
Go well

Hey Nicole

I totally agree about the water stuff, any fluid you are retaining for whatever reason gets flushed out much faster with more water. On those days of TOM for me I up to 3 litres instead of 2 and it helps greatly, especially if you're needing to use the loo and haven't been able to!!!!

It's often easier said than done to get more sleep but I know for me I am always retaining more fluid the day after a bad sleep and there's not much I can do about it but to be very very strict (I tend not to deviate anyway), up water to 3 litres and to try and keep a bit more active. Even doing the vacuuming or hanging up washing, just keeping moving helps me to get the fluid out a bit quicker.

Good luck, you're doing pretty well though!!!

WOW WOW WOW, you ladies are all so fantastic, i am actually taken back a wee bit to have SO much support here.

I think i am having an off week, pretty emotional lol, felt like a few tears while reading all the advice, haha!

I agree with everything said, everything.

I have had alot of diet coke of late as ive had alot of functions, but never went over my daily limit - i did wonder about this. Apart from gum every now and then i dont have much else.

Curry powder i did check with my consultant, and couldnt live without the flavour so maybe ill go back to the mild for the sake of my tummy.

The water i have almost finihsed my 2nd bottle - i have to have at least 4 (2lts), so im doing much better already. I find the days im at home i dont drink as much, but i normally would have a bottle on my way to town in the morning (40min drive). Its just hard sometimes.

Not having as much green tea as i used to (i used to everynight) and wonder if that helped with some of my good losses!

I also used to eat kiwifruit every night but lately they are sooo yucky, hard and bitter so have stayed away, might have to try something else to get things moving.

I had my TOM 2 weeks ago and actually think (again TMI) that i am currently ovulating! Sore tummy maybe!

I have a couple of cleaning gigs while my daughter is in daycare so that keeps me active - today it felt pretty full on like exercise though, will be sore tomorrow.

Thank you ladies SO much, so nice knowing i actually have people to turn to that totally understand what i am saying.

xx

Hi Nicole!

I had a big shock today too with my weight - not lost anything this week! I wasn't really trying to weigh myself...I was weighing a parcel and needed my own weight, and then the weight holding the parcel to find the difference!
I know there some contributing factors (like time of day, TOM looming in a couple of days etc)..but only week 2 and I would still expect to see some difference...so I'm panicking a little to be honest.
I have clinic tomorrow, that will be a sombre drive into town tomorrow morning!

The above ladies made some awesome points...I will take heed of them too
xoxo

Hi Nicole, true what you said about the support on here, Its heartwarming. I have only just returned after 2 years and I too am massively encouraged that nothing has changed in that way. Its lovely to be able to be in a place where though in person many have not met yet the care and support is always present. You are not alone in that disappointment of stepping on the scales after putting the work in to lose and not seeing a shift but it certainly doesnt mean you havent accomplished anything in your body. You are doing an amazing thing for yourself and the losses on scales will show up again. May i suggest that you try not to think so much about that right now but rather spend some time thinking or maybe even writing down where you were before doing cohens..and where you are now since doing it. something that really worked for me when i was feeling discouraged. I have a book and in it i write "I used to....but now I..." and i find it helps me to appreciate and get excited about where i am today supposed to where I was a month ago, a year ago, 5 years ago. Just a thought!
