I have to get this off my chest.

I have in the past been a secret binge-er and I had a deviation that I hadn't dare tell anyone till now. I was so annoyed with myself I thought if I didn't tell anyone then it didn't happen. But- that is the exact thought process that got me in this problem so obviously I still have a long way to go...

It all happened 2 weeks ago (5 and a half weeks into plan). Everything was going great, until I met up with some girlfriends on the coast that I rarely get to see. I'd had all intentions to not drink, yet the minute I walked up the the bar I was ordering vodka lemon soda. It all went down hill after that... 5 drinks later and my friend and I stopped in at Hungry Jacks on the way home. Some soggy chips and 2 thirds of a whopper I was feeling sorry for my self. It was SO not enjoyable but it helped to soak up the alcohol somewhat. Later that night, still not satisfied with my binge I drove through KFC drive through and bought a zinger pie. The ads had gotten the better of me and I just had to try it. Again- not as I'd imagined it would be like and it left me feeling guilty and disgusted in myself. The next day I jumped on the scales determined not to continue the landslide and found I'd gained 500grams overnight. It was enough to bring me to my senses and get back on board thankfully.

It took another 3 days till those 500grams left again, but has left me with a lesson not to cave.
It was not worth it in the end as the food was rather disappointing. I just need to remember that next time I get a craving for fast food.

Glad your deviation didn't cost you too much time, the real danger with them is that it can sometimes be hard to put the brakes on.....

I am almost an angel when on plan but...I realised this morning that I deviated yesterday with two Meal 2's! It is because I am having meal 2 for breakfast, meant to be meal 3 for lunch (this was my mistake - so I was 10gm short on the protein and 15gm over on the veges) and meal 1 for dinner.

While on plan first time I had a cracker miscount once, a purposeful extra 2 crackers one day and two mandarins as "one fruit". Also, I have over indulged in sweetners and gone crazy on the chewing gum on several occasions.

This time around I have twice had two meal 2's by accident (second time yesterday), but haven't over crackered or had extra fruit (and plan not to of course).

The big problem with me, and hence why I am back here again, as I did not follow any of the maintenance guidelines, and just ate a whole lot of crap (to deal with personal/emotional issues that were stressing me at the time).....so I can be very very good on the safety of the plan, but the real test is what will happen this time post refeed.....I do not want to let history repeat itself.

Hope that wasn't too boring!

Chewing gum? Is there a limit? Oops 🙀

I guess I need to go back and read my plan again. Ho hum...

Well after sitting steady for a few days I've lost another 100 grams overnight. I hope in the mean time I'm shrinking while I don't see the scales moving.

Chewing gum - you can have up to five pieces in exchange for sweetner tablets/drops....but max of five all up - so 5 chewing gum pieces, or 5 sweetners, or a combination of the two - if that makes sense.

My worst one was the other day, was at the grocery shop getting yoghurt and the isle to my back are chocolates and lollies, it just got the better of me this time and I brought a chunky mint kit kat, I felt revolting after eating it, I don't even know why I got it I would have never eaten that chocolate bar before the diet!!!
So I put on 1.6 kg's and it seamed forever to get rid of it again.

And here I thought I was not deviating!! I did not know about the chewing gum / sweetner combination. My consultant never told us that. She said 5 sweetners a day and 5 chewing gums as long as it is sugarfree and not the fruity flavours... Weird. I asked her again via sms, and she is sticking to it (excuse the pun!).

Pg 13? My rules and regulations are only 4 and a half pages?! Now I am getting worried... I got her number from the Cohens webpage, so she must be legit...

Maybe you lucky South Africans get different rules - I think you might use different sweetner to us (New Zealand). We are only allowed to use Sucaryl....and I am pretty sure we are only meant to eat the "Extra" spearmint and peppermint chewing gum - although when I first got some, I got another brand in spearmint, but when I went to see my consultant they have a pile of packages of the food you are allowed to eat, and only the "extra" gum was in the pile (along with salada and vitawheat boxes etc).

If in doubt - less is more! Try cutting back on the sweetener or gum for a week or so and see if it makes a difference to your losses?

Jlou, best advice ever!

I don't think South Africans get different rules, just different brands... I will send an email to someone I can find to find out if my consultant is legit. I will be pretty teed off if she isn't...

I highly doubt she's a scammer!

South Africans definitely get a slightly different program! I've sen it mentioned on here numerous times.

Your losses have been amazing LI!

LiquidIce who is your consultant cause I'm also in the Pretori Area (PTA North) my consultant is Yolande in Colbyn,

My deviations were on my first 5 days , first my cryptonite: WAFER STICKS (when I start I don't stop), then a chocolate muffin left over from the day before I started, then niknak chips I had gotten my son then Cryptonite again!!! When I thought that was it! I went to the cinema with a friend, then BOOM! Popcorn, same day later that evening I had a cheese melt down (excuse the pun).

From then on, it was so painful feeling like a failure of something I had full control of, I'm "militant" now on the eating plan and proud that I can "resist" successfully, I just keep myself fed, have a meal making sure I never get too hungry! When we are hungry our eyes wonder.

I would have started on the 26th of September and because I deviated I was set back to the 2nd of October and going strong.

And i've also done the mis-counting of the crackerbread once, and weighed my gem squash before cooking and not after, and didn't take cognizance to 85g of tomato per day (can't even tell u my biggest count) and the fact that I also missed that I had to have Paw-Paw in 180g as a fruit portion! Phew! Now that that's out there WE SOLDIER ON!

Mine - day 9, ate half a jar of Pringles. Got some bad news and almost automatically reached for the chips in the pantry! Totally an emotional eater. About ten minutes later I got a wicked headache and foul taste in my mouth!! Put me right off! And the next day.... 600gms up. :0(
