Excessive humger prior to TOM
I remember last month and I clenched my teeth and got through it but it seems worse again this month. Unsure if it is TOM or whether it may be that I am nearing a weight that I was at for quite a while up until a year ago. Could it be my body rebelling? Any comments are very welcome!! |

Hi Shellbelle,
I too suffer badly, and if you look in my diary, today I confess about thinking about eating off plan, and surprise surprise it's TOM. I spoke to my consultant about it last month as I really thought I was going to chew my own arm off last month, and she suggested taking evening primrose oil tablets 4 days prior and during TOM. Maybe this may work for you? It seems to have helped me, as even though I am thinking about eating off plan, I am no-where near as bad as last month. Unfortunately though, I have noticed that TOM brings far more painful cramps that I normally get, and I have only been able to get relief through painkillers. Hope that helps xx |

Hey Shellbelle!
I too have had some seriously bad cravings around my TOM or should I say whenever I get my period (which seems to be 2-3 times a month ATM!). I think it is probably fairly normal. DIFM - I too am experiencing cramps on a whole new level, they are insane...some others have said the same thing. Good luck with the cravings, Shellbelle. The way I got through it was saving my fruit or crispbreads until I was having a really bad craving. I also ramped up the amount of water and tea I was drinking which made me feel full all the time. |

Thanks DIFM and Jenna.
I am not having cravings at all just feeling so very hungry. Thankfully it is not accompanied by cravings- I dont know how I'd cope. I have been eating apples as my fruit for the past week- I might change that as of tomorrow and see how I go. |

Sorry I should have been more clear - when I say cravings I meant cravings for additional food, basically the same as you - excessive hunger. I don't sit here thinking, "oh how i would love a donut" or anything, it's more like "I wish I had more to eat". That is the great thing that I find with the program is that I dont crave the sugar and stuff - it's just more when things that are put right in front of me or I smell fave foods that I want to eat them. I personally don't find that Apples make me hungrier, but I do know that for some they trigger cravings/hunger. |

Hungry is an understatement for me 1 week prior to TOM. I literally think of eating up everything in sight right after a meal. You can read that in my diary. So, Dr Cohen is not entirely true when he mentioned no hunger...prolly for the male species only hahaha. Well, guess we can enjoy about 2-3 weeks of general no hunger before the crazy chew off my arms syndrome sets in again for 1 week. Wow that week is really horrid. Yea, I entirely agree that the cramps are horrid too! I've never experienced that kind of pain before not even with my endometriosis. I've been told that that is the body adjusting to the new hormones? Well, I certainly hope so. I've got to take like 2 painkillers (ponstan) to ease the pain. Because of the pain, I've to take medical leave the last 2 months to rest! |

Ditto for me on maintenance as well .. although I jave had these symptoms most of my life ... hormonal the Dr says ... *shrug*
I wish I had an answer for you all. I just make sure I plan ahead for that week and have more "good" foods and less "bad" foods readily available that week LOL Connie

Yogurt makes me hungry, no extra hunger during Tom's visit or previous, no cramps, but extra tieredness, and period face(make up slides off no matter how often you put it on,people ask you if you just got out of the hospital paleness, the thing for me this time first month on this plan -the pms or pmt or what ever you call it where you guys are was major, next month husband may think of checking into a hotel for the 24 hours before tom comes, hormones unleashed a little bit of repressed anger issues-all better now! and I let everyone live and comitted no road rage!

me too!!!!
I crave sugar - lollies, chocolate, desserts... anything sweet. i find eating some fruit works. and if i want a little extra sweetness i cute up some honey dew and sprinkle sugarine on it! hits the spot! Steph

if you are following plan 100% you will not be hungry during TOM or even before. What you will discover is it is purely habit you will be experiencing.
Drink tea, chill and just get through it.

yes I am following the plan 100%, but the cravings for the rich taste of food is much, much stronger this time period.. I still havent given in.. I just wanted this time to be done soon! Drinking tea, coffee, chilling and counting the days Thanks!
