What I can honestly say is I NEVER gave in to temptation, not once, not a lick of a spoon, not a chew and spit out not a single 'ohh one won't hurt' nothing! I went to two weddings, two dinners out, a ball and spent a week in Fiji on holidays ... no deviations. I am now over 2 months on maintenance... I started refeed at 64.5kg ... and this morning after eating badly all day yesterday including desserts, snacks and ill timed meals ....... 63.9kg What I learned was that I needed to be able to limit myself or maintenance will not work, I have been eating everything, bread, scones, hamburgers, icecream, french fries, potato chips, hot dogs .... everything I want to eat.... BUT ... I also trade off and limit my consumption to one hotdog..... the top of the bun on my hamburger, not the bottom, for one day of bad eating two days good as per the rules, eating mostly Cohens foods etc etc etc... I do not beleive I could do this now had I not taught myself restraint and followed the rules during the program, I think if you cannot follow the rules when they are in plain black and white you will have a very hard time trying to maintain when the rules are in shades of grey! Just my 2c ConnieK

I wonder if those who believe they are following the program 100%, and still register a 'borderline' or 'deviated' blood test result, could actually find out what may have caused the deviation (via the blood test)...???
I assume that if Dr. Cohen & his team can detect a deviation, then perhaps the blood chemistry/ analysis of components or electrolytes, may actually lend an answer as to how or why it may have occured? Just a query, if the alleged proposal becomes a reality. Ruby

Even if it did become a reality, it wouldn't be used in isolation. If someone is losing good weight yet the tests should borderline or even full deviation, it could be an anomoly. If someone is not losing weight, or only small weight, plus the added deviation results, that would lend to suspicion that a regular deviator has been detected.
I very much doubt they would kick someone out if that person is still losing 4-6kg a month Basically, if you are not a chronic deviator any new rule they put in place shouldn't affect you. |

Deviation thread....
That is a truly epic thread Koh!!!
Full of emotion & to some it obviously came across as harsh (I don't agree), but underlying it is the reminder that this is a program for hormone control & weight loss is kind of a side effect of that! This is no standard diet, I have tried alot & once I started deviating that was the end for me. It amazes me how 'easy' this is & how 'level' I feel on Cohen's. Everytime a deviation occurs it upsets that delicate hormone balance & you do yourself no favours. Epic!

Re: Deviation Rant - SMS boils over!
Hi Rochy,
Thanks for the reply - you are right, it IS a superb thread, and has been important for many. It's always good to see some of these "gems" re-appear.... As such, I've copied your post from there to here, thus giving the thread a bump, as well as adding your comments to it. Did you "Rate" it too? I hope so - let's see if it can become a "5 star General" (With "Rating", it needs several people to vote before it earns its stripes, so don't be discouraged if YOUR vote doesn't add the Stars)..... Koh

Re: Deviation Rant - SMS boils over!
Me too, I've also added my vote.
I remember reading this thread back on my first time round in 2010. It had a big impact on me then too. Well well worth a read through from the very beginning. i truly remember Asy's thoughts on deviations..........and it was also backed up in force by my clinic at that time too. i think maybe thats why I had the whole don't deviate message drummed into me in the first place!!!! |

Hi Rochy,
Quote:
Anyway, to rate a thread, go to the top of the page, and now you will easily spot the 5 stars alongside the word "Rating". To rate any thread simply click on the word Rating - do it now, even though it has its stars, and it will show you what to do.... I just checked - for any threads that DON'T have stars, the wording will be "Rate Thread" - since this one HAS stars, it says "Rating (and 5 stars)" Koh

Re: Deviation Rant - SMS boils over!
Wow Jaycee this thread is awesome! Just the motivation i need. I am going out for a business lunch today, posh restaurant and was going to order off the menu as best I can. I read this thread from start to finish and changed my plan. The chef is a personal friend of mine and I phoned her and asked if I can have my meat and salad measured out precisely and cooked as plan as I am on a health kick after all my hospital stuff this year. No problem!
A very timely reminder not to deviate at this busy social time of the year. Pandora |
