Default Weight losses as the months pass

Hello All
It may sound like I am obsessing here - but in actual fact, I am attempting to plan - and, in the absence of my clinic responding to my emails, I am turning to fellow Cohenites for answers..
So, if you have been on Cohens for a few months, could you help me out please?

Trying to plan overseas trip - and timing is obviously important:
I am in week 11 - so three months in. With less than 20kg to go, does the weight loss slow as the months go on, or stay relatively the same? Or, does it only start to slow as you approach say 5kg to go type of thing?

I am having some mixed weeks, for example
Wk 4 - 10.1kg (only weighed monthly)
Wk 8 - 4.8kg (only weighed monthly)
Wk 9 - 1.7kg
Wk 10 - 1.6kg
Wk 11 - 2.1kg

Although I am THRILLED with these weights, planning for future things is hard unless you understand how the weight loss works - does anyone have any thoughts on how it seems to move and whether it is usually predictable. I am naturally trying to work out approx when refeed will happen so that I dont book a flight in the middle of it.
Thanks for your help in advance - I will make an appointment with the clinic to try to pin them down, in the meantime, I need to get my head around the situation.

Hey darling..

I'm in the same boat, trying to plan life!

Its hard and I tried to do it on averages... I've averaged out mine at 6kgs a month, if I do more...great...if I don't..not much I can do (last month I only did 4.1 ).

Thats the best I can give you.

As for my trip I decided to plan way past when I thought i'd be finished, so i'm allowing leway for monts like i just had..

ie i think I'll be finished end of July/Mid Aug, but i'm planning a trip in october (non business trip).

Hope this helps !

and wow at your losses!! they are brilliant!

same i used averages cause same i want to see the end now and stick to it 100%. wow mich 6 kg a month. im 5kg a month. but revamp you have some great numbers there. it seems to have a two weekly cycle for me. one good week then one 1.1kg week.so have worked out the month of September but still have a 30kg or so, it could be before.
Good luck with it and enjoy your trip.

Hi, great question RT,
Quote:

Yep - Have a look at two charts I know of - they pretty much tell it all if you look closely......

First, where I say "m4nth", I'm referring to a "4 week month" - OK?

"Averaging" usually works fine - as long as you do one of the two things following (m4nthly only mind) :-

1. Allow for Month 1 to be almost twice as big (count m4nth 1's weight loss as 2 m4nths?)

2. Set month 1 to one side, and only average mths 2, 3, 4.....

USUALLY (for most people - though some confound this) your ongoing m4nthly losses will be REMARKABLY consistent. Now and then, people have a slow m4nth weighin, then, NEXT DAY, they drop heaps to bring things back to their "normal drop". So, don't set your watch by actual amounts on any given day - but allow for the fact that, over time, your m4nthly losses (after m4nth ONE) will be quite similar.

A couple of graphs show this admirably - here's AJ's :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=168165#post168165

And, quite recently, another poster showed her progress - leading me to post this :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=329201&highlight=straight#post329 201

My post was #134 in Jo's Diary - but GO BACK to post #131 and see for yourself !!!!!!!!!!

Typically, a person's losses are pretty much a straight line (assuming they are staying true to Plan, of course - if not, all bets are off )

Like AJ, Jo had earlier LARGER losses - and, in latter days, a slight slowing down can be expected too. The usual, though, is for a rather consistent loss per m4nth from start to finish, except for m4nth one, and once "close to refeed".

Hope that helps,
Koh

Well thank you to all who have taken the time to respond - really appreciated.
Yes, Mich sounds as though we are in a similar situation...I am feeling a bit of pressure to make the trip earlier (not from hubby - but what his business needs) however we have decided to not go until I have done refeed - what sort of joy is there in travelling all over Europe and not being able to at least try different foods and specialty meals in different countries!! Pointless - as far as I can see!
Thanks for your input GR - I am pretty happy with what has been achieved so far - doesnt it move so very quickly compared to any other program??
Koh - well, I have seen AJ's chart before, but seeing Jo's really cemented how the losses continue. I started my own - and everything you have said is ringing true - the line just seems to continue in the same path. It would appear to be relatively easy to predict after about 4 months as to where you are likely to hit refeed (bearing in mind that it is likely to slow down just before refeed)
If anything, this has helped me to refocus and stay true to plan (not that I have even come close to deviating) but it confirms that sticking with the formula will get me there at an anticipatable (is there such a word..is now!!!!) rate - so that I can move forward and plan for our upcoming trip.
Oh my - there will be soooo much room in that plane seat now - now that is something to look forward to!!!
Thanks once again
p.s. my clinic emailed me back and have told me to stop stressing, everything will be doable - it is the bloods that cause a few issues when travelling. So that is a great relief!!

Hey RT
Thank you for this post - it has been really interesting to read. Congratulations on your weigh lost for last week - fantastic!!!! I also eem to have one good week, and then one week which is just over a KILO - last week was 1.1 KG and the week before was double at 2.2 - but I figure if I am doing it all 100% then it will work itself out. I am so desperate to be at my goal by the end of September so I can complete refeed before a good friends wedding late October, and then be well into Maintanence before I head to NZ for Christmas with family!
I can't believe you are heading away (purely selfish reasons on my part, I was hoping once we all were at goal we could catch up!)
Exciting times ahead of you, thank you for posting your diary, you are so good at writing and I look forward to reading your posts - gives me encouragement!!
I have been a bit slack on the diary posting ad must get onto that tonight.
Stay well - are you going to the clinic next week? we also have blood tests due
chat soon xx

Ah my dear Noddy - isnt it hard to see so many months into the future - but as Koh has pointed out, the lines are fairly straight after you get past that first month - think we should have more of an idea at the end of month 3 - some patterns established.
We don't have to wait for beyond goal to catch up - we are shrinking - it should all be celebrated!!!! I am more than happy for a drive to catch up - feel like I know you already!
How good does it feel to keep adjusting that ticker!!
I had better get back to cooking family's dinner - but chat soon, hey?
xx

Hi Everyone,

I'm also in the same boat as far as planning for life is concerned. I'll be travelling for work in July to London. The way I see it, I should be in/starting my refeed then. I've got about 7kg to go from now till then. Is there anyway I can delay my refeed? I hate to be right in the midst of my refeed and then have to be away on work for 10-12 days....This is causing me quite a bit of stress. Any advice?

If you have an iPhone the download the app target weight for adults, fill in your next weigh ins and it will calculate an estimated time for your weight loss and it's free.

Hi Sasha,

That is a bit of a pickle... You wouldn't want to really delay refeed, as you will be REALLY hungry!

I was put on refeed quite abruptly, and it wasn't a "great" time and I was quite busy and not prepared. I did the lazy version of refeed... where I only added new things when I could (throughout the day). Some of the meals stay the same, then it will say "minus xgrams of "old" protein and add x grams of "new" protein"... so i did all of the mucking around (adding and subtracting) at the end of the day for my dinner... Having new fruit and whatnot (ie: a biscuit) is pretty easy to fit in, it's the meals that are fussy.

Hope that helps

Hi

Man oh man the obsession in the early days lol (I was gonna day olden days but I was there so it’s early days lol).

It amazes me reading all the posts trying to figure out an exact weight loss per month or an exact end date. The beauty of hind sight is you can laugh at this. I understand people wantin. Certainty’s but I’ve learned that slow and steady really does win the race.

Maybe I’m older and wiser?? Whatever it is I love reading these posts
