Forget "weightloss" - some Classics are classic for far deeper reasons
Now and then, we need to "step outside ourselves" and appreciate things from a whole different perspective. After stumbling over this old thread tonight, I wanted to share it in here - for obvious reasons (but, no, it has nothing to do with losing weight) Some classics are just ..... CLASSIC !! Just enjoy, or ruminate !! Whatever, I hope you find value in it, Koh

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure ....
Now THIS should be mandatory reading, perhaps daily (I know I could do with that - about to print it off now .....). What a spirit lifter !!
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=235205#post235205 If you recognise this phrase..... We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? ... then you'll want to go read the rest of it, for sure Thanks, Namaste - another classic for sure. I'm so glad I found it again..... Koh

Desiderata... how uplifting is this?
I'm sure everyone would have heard of this one (or heard people "quote bits of it") Some even appears in song.
I find this piece to contain SO much of value - there has to be something in it for everybody, I'd think - a true Classic !! It is ALWAYS good to re-read from time to time..... brings me peace - how about you? (Comment in the "stickies" if you wish) Desiderata Go placidly amidst the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others; even the dull and ignorant, for they too have their story Avoid loud and agressive persons for they are vexatious to the spirit If you compare yourself with others you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble, for it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time Exercise caution in your business life for everywhere there is trickery But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism Be yourself Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings; many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be And whatever your labours and aspirations, keep peace in your soul With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world Be cheerful Strive to be happy. Max Erhmann 1927

Oh, I LOVED this one (and only posted tonight - 20 Apr 2010 - so you might've caught it already). ConnieK added this "Letter from the quiet you inside - to you" and it might be just the fillip you need today...
One to print out and visit often methinks http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=272890#post272890 A great find, Connie Koh

Re: Forget "weightloss" - some Classics are classic for far deeper reasons
Oh, my !! Why didn't I find this one a year ago? Still, now and then, serendipity steps in, and allows us to re-discover gems (even years later) that might otherwise be lost to us !!
No surprise to me that it is MissNix, and she shares words that thrill !! Quote:

Re: Forget "weightloss" - some Classics are classic for far deeper reasons
I KNEW I had posted this (and thought I'd done it "here in the Classics" - but I hadn't, so, having re-discovered it, here's a classic from a local lad).
Quote:
Koh PS Nothing like a classic to have us think "We're not doing so bad after all...." (we could mean you/me, or humankind, depending)

Re: Forget "weightloss" - some Classics are classic for far deeper reasons
I'd heard this one some years back, and it makes SO much sense. Recently, Erra was kind enough to post it here, in NewYou... Thanks, Erra
It is a powerful muse, re LIFE !!! Enjoy.... http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=343211#post343211 It is worthwhile to scan back a bit in that thread too. The thread title is "Some help in getting your head in the right place so you can succeed", and has some really good input from other NewYou members. Koh

Re: You are "Full of Awesome"
I spotted this today in SlimUnderneath's Diary - here :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=363436#post363436 Can you remember when you were five? Are you feeling that same love for yourself that you did then? If not, why not? (Now there's a question...) Life can be pretty efficient at "beating us down" if we let it. But posts like these can all help to turn things around - if we let them.... In fact, this one neatly dovetails with another "Classic" that (I believe) should be a weekly read for all. Later Edit: I was going to post a link, then found it is just back a few posts, right here in this thread. Go read post #2 ...... the one that starts "Who am I to be brilliant....." - you'll love it !! Now, don't the two of those put a smile on your dial? Did they lift your heart a little? What if you re-read these daily? Woohoo !!! Go get it !!

Re: Forget "weightloss" - some Classics are classic for far deeper reasons
I happened across a website that held a number of awesome sayings. I wanted to share one or two with you today..... just because !!
Judgement Day They say judgement day is coming, but let me tell you - for some, it's here already. The way you judge yourself can literally create your own hell. No more harsh judgements, no more self-rejection, no more self-doubt, no more self-sabotage. Ask the judge for mercy - have mercy on yourself. Bryant McGill Infatuation is when you find someone absolutely perfect. Love is when you realize they aren't perfect and it doesn't matter. Unknown It is the studying that you do after your school days that really counts. Otherwise, you know only that which everyone else knows. Henry Doherty A friend who understands your tears is much more valuable than a lot of friends who only know your smile enjoy
