My NYF Diary
Default Re: Giddyupgirl's Diary

Hi Gug,

I've been away a couple of days, so have missed most of this... but I caught your comment about "I used to eat far less than this before Cohens".

Now, right away, I KNOW that the Cohens plan does not work as well where other people tried to "pre-empt" the receiving of their Plan, and would cut back on their "usual food" prior to having their first blood test. And, that's you, in a sense - and could have led to a different analysis of your bloods than most do when starting, leading to "who knows what" (I certainly don't)

It's sorta like "Cohens having one hand tied behind its back" as that INITIAL fasting blood test is what determines "the food amounts you will need". What if your earlier diet led to "aberrations"? And Cohens is now attempting to "bring your bloods right with the food amounts Doc Cohens thinks you need right now"? As others have said, please don't try to "second-guess" things - less food does not equal less weight - just ask Connie (or check her Diary). Right food and amounts equals less weight.

I think the answer may lie with your clinic - and I mean direct conversation, not just a "standard answer from them". You are a special case, because of your prior losses and diet. Please do make another effort to get into a "one on one" situation - even if only by telephone !!

Good luck, and stay focussed for now - stay as happy as you are able, and let's get this thing sorted.

Hugs,

Koh

PS I'm not likely to be "around" too much over the next few days - but I do hope you make contact with your clinic - by phone.

Thanks Koh, I think I have it sorted out now, you wrote your post as I was writing mine. I never have any luck ringing the clinic, or emailing them for that matter. I know they must be very busy with the in-person clients, so I understand that there is no time for me as I am so far away and can't physically get to the clinic, so I just make the best of what I have available to me. I think I have actually spoken to a real person once in about a dozen attempts, and that was just to tell them my starting weight. Emailing isn't much better as apparently mine just go to junk, not much I can do about that.

Oh and I forgot to mention I am not reducing my food intake, I am sticking to the plan 100%, I am just eating the same few foods and I was told by both my plan and this forum that it is just fine to do that, so I am not really seeing what all the fuss is about. I am not deviating or reducing my quantities by 1 gram, 100% on plan. Just reducing the variety and cutting out the optional stuff short term.

GuG
I have re-read my program and I think you may be misinterpreting it. In the boxes it talks about for example not mixing proteins in a meal but it is ok to say have different seafood in the same meal. The vegetables box talks about having one vegetable or a variety. I cannot see how this, considering the protein example and that Cohens is a balanced diet, can be intended as anything other than a reference to one vs variety per meal. So to say what you are proposing is as per plan, I don't believe is correct.

GuG I am also overwhelmed by the number of people who have posted their concerns.... We all want each other to lose weight as fast as possible - but healthily and safely.

Please contact your clinic on Monday to check if what you are doing really is what Dr Cohen intended.

We are all here for you and want you to do well and be healthy.

Hey GuG,

Conrats on the kick start and I am releived to see this is not a long term plan ...

On the still see yourself as you were thing ... I had to have counselling at the end because that's exactly what I saw .... ... the counselling really helped ... step 1 was I had to put a before shot of me next to my mirror so that every time I looked in it I saw that I was not how I used to be ..... very strange but it really helped.

Feel free to pm me anytime if you have a problem or need help ... I will do what I can

Connie

Thanks Connie, I don't have any photo's of me before, the last photo's I have of me are my wedding photo's and I was 50kg and size 6 then, and that was a long time ago.

I have been receiving counselling for the past 20 years. I am extremely worried because my psycologist is about to have triple bypass heart surgery and is retiring, I don't know what I will do when that happens, I guess I will be on my own.

Hi Mellow,

Feeling great, it is my 8 week official weigh in today and with all my messing around I have managed my biggest 1 week loss to date of 1.9kg, so I am happy with that and I am have also reached the milestone of 75kg, so all is good.

Wow Giddy!

That's great news. I'm really happy to hear that things are working out!
Perhaps ... a little controversial, but I am glad you got the results you were looking for!!

I have been peeking in to see how you were going, but there was no posts...and your tickers are gone!?

I'm super excited and happy for you!

Thanks Mellow and Laura, yes controversial indeed, but it worked for me and I am reintroducing other protiens and vegies again, I have already discovered that I can't have low fat mayo or crispbreads, well I can, but they slow me down significantly, so that is the results I was after, through the process of elimination. I am pleased I did that but wouldn't like to do it again, but it did work for me, it reset my weighloss, but more importantly it has and still is teaching me how my body reacts to different foods, and I believe that is part of what this program is about, learning what we can and can't eat and how food effect our bodies.

Iceberg lettuce is starting to taste very metallic now, so definitely the time to change back to my lovely mixed lettuce leaves instead, just hope they don't cause a problem as you need to have much more physical quanitity of them to make up the weight.

My ticker is gone because I was asked to reduce the size of my signature, so it was just easier to get rid of the lot as my full weight loss ticker was causing confusion for some people, but that is the one I personally need to keep me motivated, as opposed to my cohens weight loss ticker which means absolutely nothing to me, as I don't distinguish between my precohens and cohens weight loss as they are just different parts of the path along one continual weightloss journey for me. So the cohens only one does not motivate me at all. Never mind, it doesn't matter, I am just keeping a low profile so as not to cause anymore waves or upset anyone else.

cheers
GUG

Thanks Sim and Nellie, feeling pretty good about it even if I do say so myself.

May day has been lovely, a day off work which is always good, stick insect proved his worth as a hunter/gatherer today and caught 8 lovely yellow belly. Nothing nicer than fresh caught fish for dinner, super yummy. He is going out again tomorrow, so might have fresh fish again for dinner tomorrow night You guys are also doing a brilliant job, well done and keep heading forward with your eyes firmly fix on the goal.

Maybe if you don't think the ticker is a good idea anymore just have goals completed/to go in your sig??

I loveeee putting a 'DONE' in my sig

Thanks Gremlin, yeah feeling much better, sometimes you just have to be mega proactive to get things moving, not suggesting what I did is for everyone, we are all different and deal with frustrations differently, but I am of the nature that either I do something radical about things or I just give up, so on this program the later isn't an option. And I am also learning what I can and can't eat at the moment, mayo is definitely out and crackers are limited. Tomato and beef are back in, and I know I have good losses after having fish the day before. Just as well stick insect is proving himself as a useful fisherman. Fresh caught fish is just soooo yummy!!!

Congratulations on the weight loss GUG and I am really pleased that you seem to have sorted out what works and doesn't work for you. I am sorry you took your ticker away though. I think your total weight loss ticker was great. As you say it's all part of your journey.

As I said in my diary a couple of days ago, I am so sorry if I upset you and I certainly didn't intend that at all. I have just had a bad couple of days and if it felt like I took it out on you, please forgive me!
