hi all

on the helpful front - i don't really have much "helpful" advice. But i was taking the metamucil capsules. It says to take 5 a day and to be honest i was a little scared about taking that many so i started with one and built my way up to 4 but still wasn't having much luck. So i kind of gave up. I'm tempted to try them again as it doesn't seem to be getting much better. Although I have to say that there has been a few times i have noticed (and I am SO NOT CONDONING THIS) that when I have not been able to get exactly what i should be for my meals eg if i have gone out or something i quite often have a bm... i suspect this is my body rejecting the bad things tho so it's not necessarily a good thing...

on the squat toilet front - i just spent 2 months in Europe and between the squat toilets and the not being allowed to flush toilet paper in greece - I was SO glad to see my toilet when I got home lol the squat toilets were ok in some places, but i remember we stopped at the pont du guard and some of the girls went to use the loos and came straight back again because it was so disgusting. As long as they are clean they aren't too bad really...

Hi everyone

I think i can help!!

I also used to struggle with constipation for a long time, however, since doing this i rarely have that problem and i no longer use laxatives. I have recommended this to a lot of my friends and it seemed to have helped them too
The ingredient is: linseed
U can buy it from any grocery store where u find the sesame seeds and the likes.
grind the linseed so it becomes fine (almost like powder) and sprinkle a table spoon on your food (has to be chewed with food, so the best would be salads) and enjoy

I hope this helps looking forward to hearing the results
Evave

Is linseed Cohens approved? Have you checked with the clinic?

Ah, my favorite subject....

Most has been covered so I'd be repeating any advice or observations I have on the matter. But to address the quoted piece of your post Andy. I've lived in Europe for 7 years and Asia for 11. I can tell you from personal observations that I probably saw more "hole in the floor" squat toilets in Europe than I have in Asia.

Hexi, 1 tablespoon of Linseed is Cohens approved, approved by my clinic, and i was taking it throughout my cohen diet period and it did not show up at all as a deviation, so i think it's safe to say that i have tried and tested linseed

Ok I got the linseed and tried to grind it with pestle and mortar - was taking too long so I just had the linseed straight into the yoghurt - was lovely! I hope ungrinded linseed is ok?

I'm sure ungrind will do the trick, as long as u chew it properly
I usually grind it in the coffee grinder so it's really fine, tastes great that way
hmmm... it might have just been me, but i noticed that it works better if u have the linseed with something chewable (i.e. meat or veg).
an quick-recipe idea:
a leaf of lettuce, with green pepper, tomatoe, baby marrow (or any veg of ur liking) and add cheese (from allowance) and then i roll the whole thing so that u get a wrap affect.... yummmmy

Let me know how the BM is treating u, i hope well

Oh gosh...

Evave, I'm sorry, but you're not right.

Linseed oil is NOT ALLOWED ON THE PROGRAMME. Neither is Linseed, in any variety, ground or otherwise.

The only medicinal type oil allowed is either Omega 3,6,9 oil or flaxseed oil. You can have one capsule of either per day. THAT'S IT.

If you are constipated, ring your clinic to check whether what you want to use is allowed.

I know that when I had this problem I used Coloxyl with Senna tablets. 2 at night just before bed.

The other thing is, guys, just because it says something on the forum, doens't necessarily mean it's right (well, unles I say it, but that's different )

If you read something and you're not sure about it, PLEASE report it or PM me and let me know.

Thanks,

asy

Hi ... I wondered if this difference was because Evave was from another country? (I dont know if she is... I just wondered?) And this is where the dilemma is?.... If clinics in other countries say its allowed....and then they come here saying their clinics say its ok.... but we dont know where people are from it gets a bit confusing.

It definitely pays to ask the clinic first.

Blessya

It's OK Hex, now ya know and can stop

Kanna, Don't know whether it's an inter-country thing, but have put feelers out to find out whether it is. I can't think why it would be, as far as I know the programme's the same everywhere with the exception of Cracker Brands (obviously).

Anyway, question's been asked, will report back when I know.

Linseed is the same thing as flaxseed (just a naming difference depending on which country u live in)
i think that it is possible that certain clinics allow it while others dont.
i do apologise if i was in the wrong by preapproving it- however my clinic did approve it without hesitation and i have also been taking a table spoon of ground linseed/flaxseed since the begining of my cohens diet and it did not show up as a deviation in my monthly blood test results.
but either way, my apologies Asy

Hiya Evave,

Don't apologise!!!

It may be a country difference, it's interesting, though.

I'll double check tomorrow, and post the answer, but in the meantime don't worry too much. I did check with a clinic today, and was told no, but I'll double check.

OK, have quadruple checked and here's the official word:

Quote:
Clients may not use flaxseed oil in salad dressings. They may only use capsules following the manufacturers instructions.
Flaxseed oil includes the seed. You can't grind the seed up. You can have ONE capsule per day, that's it.

Hope that clears it up.

i know something that my mum uses is psyhilium husks (sp?) they also are supposed to fill you up.
Mum has them sprinkled on cereal or yogurt at brekky.

If someone was interested in that maybe you could check with your consultant if its allowed.

True, only you can't have the ORANGE one as it has fruit sugar in it.
