Wow! I have just been been reading all these posts, I have been on a bit of a clothes buying spree since just before Christmas, in the sales only I might add!! and also while on holiday. Shopping at clothing shops that I had never entered before as I knew there would be nothing to fit. It has been the most exciting journey buying size 18 and now some size 16 clothing, not been this small for years and years. Even been out today and bought some stone coloured capri pants size 18 and a size 16 cardi top, new shoes as well, all on sale. Clothing that fits nicely certainly makes you feel so good. I put on so many of my old clothes and just feel so blah!! The compliments and reactions to my weight loss from friends and family over the holidays has been amazing.... Yes at this time of the year with all the sales, it is a good idea to buy clothing that fits, you don't need a lot of items just some good mix and match bits.
Happy Shopping from MaggieLyn!!

Hi MaggieLyn,

Woohoo - into the 16's now? That is awesome - and sort of scarey too.... WHY?

Well, Size 16 is top of the "normal" sizing range - and, from the 16's on down, you will find just a 6 - 7Kg drop brings another new Size !! or Whether delight or horror depends how your Credit Card is faring eh?

Anyway, if you thought things were moving OK, hang onto your seatbelt, as you have just entered a new "timewarp"..... Everything seems to speed up as you approach the latter days. And you are CLOSING IN on those, lady !!

Just one other thought (from your comment below) :-

All I'd add to that, is "it is a good idea to buy clothing that will fit soon". With prices as low as they are, why not ?

I can't wait to be able to buy new clothes! I am a compulsive shopper - mainly for shoes, but quite often clothes as well, I just can't resist a bargain!!

However, I have been so good since starting Cohens! I have only bought a couple of things, in the post xmas sales, and in sizes WAY WAY too small for me now! I have 3 shirts and a jacket that I bought from City Chic, all in XS, which is about a 14 there I think, they are all winter tops and I figured they should fit me by winter.

I will have a while to go before I actually need new clothes though. I was always in a bit of denial, and would never buy anything over a size 22, as most 22's fit me (sometimes a size 20), but sometimes you find stuff that you need to go up a couple of sizes, and I simply refused. I also hate trying on clothes, so often I would see something I liked, find a 20 or 22 and buy it, then get it home and find out it was too small!! Quite a bit of my current clothes are a little bit tight, meaning I am usually uncomfortable, especially in pants, but that ought to change soon.

It will be like having a whole new wardrobe without shopping! Clothes I have had for ages and never been able to wear will finally fit!! I can't wait!!

I went shopping yesterday and brought a pair of work pants and shirt in a size 14 - how exiting started of 20 -22. I have bragged to many in my family. Was going to buy some more clothes but decided not to as I have some 16 shirts that will do me and I do not plan on being a 14 for long, thinking of buying something in a 12 for when I get down there.

Funny story about new clothes. I went to a store right before Christmas to buy my holiday season jeans. Note: At this point, I hadn't bought jeans in about 7 years. I asked the shop lady for a pair of size 24s. She hesitated for a bit but still handed me a pair and told me that they were going to be WAY TOO BIG on me. I insisted on trying them on and true enough, they fell straight to the ground, along with my jaw. I was incredibly shocked - my mental image of myself is much, much bigger than my physical self. How weird is that.

Ended up buying a pair of SIZE 16s! The shop lady had an "I told you so" look on her face as she rang up my bill. I guess she could tell I was pleased as I was grinning from ear to ear like a happy little monkey.

Hi GLT,

Don't we see it all the time on TV? That "How to look good naked" (or whatever it is called) has people join a line-up of "variously sized" others. They are asked to "fit themselves in" to the line-up wherever they believe they "fit".

And, invariably, they choose a spot WAY bigger than "actual" (a buzz for the viewing audience no doubt). All part of "How they see themselves" eh?

So, weird or not, it is quite COMMON, GLT. Use photos, or impromptu reflections in shop windows for "the truth"...

Or, just do what you did - and get a VERY nice surprise eh?

these thoughts are all so correct. At times I still have a mental image ofme being fat. Wendym, try on those size 12's, I have been given a tunic in that size and it looks REARLY great on me. Also went shopping this wek in Katmado and brought a size 16 and size 12 jacket with sleeves for the cloder weather (and they are on special). Looking forward to more shopping this week while in Chch, tunic's and 3/4 pants look great.
MaggieLyn, isn't it exciting getting into the smaller sizes, I want to tell the whole world. But watch your colours, I used to be able to wear one colour of green, but now am staying away from ALL greens as they make me look sick.

How tue itis about the image you have of yourself, I decided after yesterday to go through my wardrobe and have got rid of everything from 18 and up, some 16s still fit loosley and will do me for work until I dropped too much more, don't want to spend too much on clothes at the moment as don't think I will have much wear out of them.

I had brought a designer suit on e-bay a few weeks ago and it is a petite 14, did not quite fit me especially the skirt, while going through the wardrobe tried it on and fits well now, so this might not last long but was good just to know it now fits. Also brought myself another pair of 14 work pants today so they will do me for a little while.

Nothing motivates you more than fitting into clothes you never thought you would fit into.

Hi Wendy, wow size 14, I can't remember being in a size 14, Im just getting into 16/18 but I have bought some size 14's as well, because I know I am going to get there, but just cannot imagine what this will feel like!! I am excited enough now about getting into size 16!!
Nothing motivates you more than fitting into clothes you never thought you would fit into. I agree with this statement, whenever I get dressed lately, Im constantly on a high at how good I feel.

I still remember the day I fitted into my first pair of size 8 pants!! It is amazing once you start losing how quickly you move down the sizes. I have read so many stories of people not realising how small they actually were after losing weight. May I suggest to everyone that when you go to try on clothes in the size that you think you will fit into, always grab the same thing one size smaller, You will be amazed how often the smaller one will fit and if it doesnt fit what a small amount you actually have to lose to get to that size. It is so motivating to do this!!

I love this story Goodlucktummy, asking for a size 24 and walking out with a size 16, how cool is that. You must have felt so proud of yourself.
I also like your reward system below your ticker factory!!

Yes Happy Barb, it is very exciting getting into smaller sizes, I am going to have to stop buying anything else in the 16/18 now as I can see by reading this post that our size seems to change very quickly, I like to get lots of wear out of my clothing, so will have to make the most of what I have bought over the last month, a pair of size 16 pants are already becoming loose around the waist!!
Happy shopping in chch, lots of good sales on at present!!

Where does one even go to get their colours done??? I have heard of it but never done it. I know I look good in black, red and yellow, but would love to have my colours done at some point!

MaggieLyn will not be long before you are fitting into a 14, such a good feeling.

Louise I agree with you when going shopping take the next size down when trying on as well to be amazed and also helps to motivate you to continue on till they fit.

I started by buying a 16 cocktail dress for when going on the cruise and did not think it would fit but it has and I have it worn it once and it will not be worn again, might have to start putting things on ebay.

Alli not sure where you get your colours done but that would be something I would like to do especially when I reach goal.

Hi Everyone

It's awesome being able to buy things you really want to wear instead of hidding out in your clothes!!!! I have gone from a size 18 to a 12, so far.

Just a question for all of you, I find that my shoes are too big for me. I was a size 5 but now need to buy a 4 as my 5's slip off my feet. I love shoes so now I have a closet full of shoes I cannot wear. Does anyone know if my feet might still get smaller, as I still have about 16kg's to go before I reach goal and I don't want to go buy shoes now and then they end up not fitting later?

Thanks everyone, have a good day

I've read of MANY who go down a shoe size - and some that go down 1.5 or 2 sizes (perhaps those with a longer journey?)

To be sure, buy a pair or two of 4's to "get you by for now", then see where you end up at completion... Probably still a 4, but better to KNOW eh?

Appreciate the feedback.

Will go and get a couple of 4's in the meantime. - heeheehee I don't mind where I'm losing, as long as it keeps coming off.

Have a good evening.

I spent last weekend sorting all the bags of clothes which were stored in the top of my wardrobe into their various sizes. I have stacked them back in my cupboard and look forward to working my way down to the smaller ones
Also as a reward for getting through the first week I bought myself a new top which is a tiny bit tight and I look forward to fitting into it in the next couple of weeks!
