Wow, wow, wow !! If you want introspection, hope, acceptance, happiness, and just plain "good stuff" (from a lady who once was morbidly obese, but isn't now, and NEVER will be again ), read on...

BD's (ButterflyDreamin) reply came from a "bumped thread" and boy did she ever enjoy that thread.... Here are just a few of her words - there are SO many more from her though, and all so sage !!
Quote:
As someone who has been deviation free for 10 months where I have never had a food that is off plan, I am existing in a lovely little bubble where I actually feel deprived of nothing. I am so grateful for that feeling that words cannot describe what this means to me.

That is why I avoid non-Cohen's foods like the plague. I have absolutely no desire to trigger those out of control feelings or cravings. No diet or program has given me that form of will power before. There is so much power in that for me.
(My bolds - Koh)

You can read the rest here :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=347532#post347532

And while you are there, DO go back to the start of that thread, and read all of the other responses (that thread was "bumped" for good reason)

And a huge "Thank you" for your well thought out response, BD - it is certainly a gem.....

Hi all,

Well, today, I feel like saying "Snap!" to the previous gem's introduction :-
Quote:
Wow, wow, wow !! If you want introspection, hope, acceptance, happiness, and just plain "good stuff" (from a lady who once was morbidly obese, but isn't now, and NEVER will be again ), read on...
Different lady, and different good stuff - but another who has learned so much, and shares it all so well !!

GLT had one of the hardest starts of all - initially rejected by Doc Cohen because of health issues. So, really, GoodLuckTummy's path started before she even got her plan. Didn't stop her though, as you'll see...

Well, here we are, around one year later, the job has been done, and she has started her Maintenance Diary with a post that could be "Everyone's journey personified". I've no doubt there be many heads nodding, and maybe even a lightbulb or two turning on.....

I'm not even going to TRY to "pick out the good bits" for you - the whole post is a GEM !! Go on - go put a smile on your face by clicking here:-

Onya, GLT - you Group1 Winner you

Thanks so much Koh. But thank you more for highlighting GLT's post - what an inspiration! Enjoyed reading that SO much.

This program doesn't just help us lose weight - it transforms our lives in so many ways if we allow it to (and this forum is a huge part of that - and our dear moderators such as yourself).

Hope your new life direction is suiting you and you are enjoying it.

Hail Sapphire !!

This inspiring lass has just posted her "Goodbye letter" to her "Inner Fat Chick" that held her captive for so long - here's a teaser :-

My Inner Skinny Chick is strong but I hear you behind me – screaming at me to “come back” but your voice fades a little more each week. I must be forever vigilant that your presence may lurk in the shadows, waiting for me to weaken so you can take control again. For that reason, I cannot say goodbye to you forever because you are such a powerful and determined force who has controlled me for most of my life. I will however, do whatever is necessary to stay out of your grasp so I never have to lay eyes on you again and never again feel your powerful jaws crushing the life from me.

Go here to catch the whole post and to get your head nodding too http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=349356#post349356

What else can I say except that Sapph's whole journey has been one of huge inspiration as she kept on steadfastly, staring down slow losses (and sometimes no losses), and she always managed to find a positive thought to end each post on. Go read the whole Diary of a true champ. She is maintaining now, and taking baby steps into empowering her ISC daily!!

Well done, sweetie - you are such a champ. Keep that gag on the IFC, and let your ISC roar !!!

Hugs,
Koh

Thanks again for picking such wonderful posts Koh. I must admit that I cried when I read that letter from Sapphire. I relate to it so much.

You are both Cohen's gems. Our sapphire and our cheer leading hushpuppy diamond.

Thanks

And a thank you to Butterfly too. A wonderful lady that I would like to meet one day to have a Cohens heart to heart.

Wellll........ Lookee here at who is back again !!!

It's ButterflyDreamin, and jumping out of her skin as she reaches her Refeed goal weight !! Ah, but THAT is not what makes this a gem - many reach Refeed - no, it's the words used that are gems :-
Quote:
I have found our bodies are often way wiser than our minds, who try to trick us at times.
Simple words - but there is a whole BOOK in that phrase if you simply contemplate the words and the meaning behind them....

Then, there was this -
Quote:
I am actually quite emotional thinking of what I have acheived in 12 months. I remember how desperate I felt at the begining and powerless (and that feeling was even worse before I began - at times a loathing really). Now I feel such a sense of acheivement, power and freedom. Most importantly, acceptance and understanding of myself.
When hidden thoughts like this are brought into the light, they can help SO many others (and that's what I'm here for... ).

I'm sure BD was never alone in feeling that way at the beginning. But to acknowledge it as she succeeds is a great fillip for anyone reading who might have just started, or is contemplating starting, on this Cohens journey. It can happen for all of you, and BD has shown the way like so many others before.

I've just taken a sample - there is so much more here:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=353145#post353145

BD's path is there for you to replicate, and to become YOUR dream - go get it !!! Thank you, little Butterfly - and congratulations !!

I HAD to include this today, as it follows on from Butterfly's epiphany in the previous gem !!

Quote:
Now I see that it all boils down to self-esteem and self-respect. Back when I was obese, I never thought about caring for myself - physically, spiritually, mentally. I never even tried to make the effort probably because I felt ugly and undeserving. Now I see myself in a new light - not a selfish or self-centered way; it's about self-improvement so that I can be the best me I can be............... I am slowly but surely learning to love, respect and care for the new me.

Here's the whole post:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=354177#post354177

GLT (GoodLuckTummy) has been doing a whole lot of serious learning, and upon reaching Maintenance, the learnings get even more important !! The quote above is only a small part of her whole post, but I wanted to highlight those words, as I'm sure they will echo in MANY heads !!

Onya, GLT - keep on reaching, seeking, learning, and loving who you are, and what you are becoming !!

Great post, wee girl - in fact, it's a GEM !!

Hugs,
Koh

Well, one very slack puppy happened across a really old thread today.

Since SundayMorningStaple's words in the linked post are so succinct, so crucial, and so much "need to be heard", I wanted to point to them from in here.

Here's the link :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=226420#post226420

His post talks of WHY weight can stall for days at a time, why weight and cms losses seem to happen at different times, the exercise question, and SO many other things - all wrapped up with a pink bow, making that post a GEM !! Go on - read it - it is WELL WORTH the effort.

Enjoy !!

Well, MaggieLyn's post just HAD to become a gem !!

She is a maintainer who had found there is more yet to learn post-Plan.... She is learning it, and is planning to get "Back on the Bus" once more.

Her Maintenance Diary tells the tale, but it was THIS post that had me scrambling for the "gems" thread today:-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=366430#post366430

In the story she is "packing her bags" for the trip, and is making a list of what to take.

Deciding "what to take on the Bus, and what not to take" is the essence of her post. Her list is an unusual one, but VERY apt. e.g. it includes things like Motivation, Relief, Excitement, and even Junk. It's a really good read - go take a look (link above)

Enjoy your Bus trip, Maggie, you little gem !!

Dear Koh, Thank you for picking up on my post it is from my heart, never expected it to end up in hidden gems. Like any new journey there is planning before you can start on that venture. Whenever I go on a big trip I always get my suitcase out in advance and plan what I can take and what I can't. I really did imagine myself packing for this new trip on my Cohens journey, the least I put in my bag the easier and less complicated my journey would be, as for the junk that would hold me back, it really has been dumped, but I know I have to be careful I don't opt to pick up any of those items on my new journey and end up making my suitcase heavy again..
Thanks Koh, I am really excited about being back. Hugs from Marg

I've printed a few quotes out and put them on my bathroom mirror....and I have physically been writing down what I want on my own "bus", and what I want to leave permanently behind.

Hi all,

Hehe - now and then, posts just "bubble with excitement" - and, when that happens and it is in someone's diary, we will read it, comment, feel the buzz, and be thrilled for the poster.

Then time passes - and that post can become "lost in time". So, here is where "gems" comes into play.

Just today, I had a huge smile reading the post of a new member who is "on fire" with excitement. Here's a teaser....

Quote:
OMG, I've had a large drop over night, can't believe it!!! 6.8 kgs in 2 weeks!! ................

To be honest I am just lost for words - I have not deviated ever, so if this is the prize then I'm never going to waiver as this is awesome . ...........

Dr Cohen I am officially your number one fan
Wherever you see a string of dots, I have edited things out. Go here to read the whole post from NicolaB :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=377194#post377194

And to you, NicB, thanks for starting my day with a smile. Sounds like yours is permanently fixed on your face from here on... And thanks for creating another gem,
Koh

Time for a "Gems" bump !! The post today is one I read a few weeks back, and it certainly made an impression then. But, as happens, when time is constrained, some things just have to wait....

This morning, I re-found this gem - straight out of the "Physical Changes..." thread. And it awed me once again to read it.

This Cohen bloke just does SO much good in the world - no wonder I chose my NYF name as a homonym of "Cohen awe" (it's true !!)

To Dr Cohen -

And here's the link to that awesome post (thanks Claireybell ).

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=381870#post381870

CB started her post with the title "NO MORE CLINICAL DEPRESSION AND FREE OF MEDICATIONS".

But read the whole story behind it. Wow, talk about the Cohen Plan being value for money.... Sounds to me like its value is more like priceless.
Onya, wee girl - that is one helluva good story. The whole world should read it !!

And, to others reading, if you haven't already, go read the whole "Physical Changes" thread - there are so many stories akin to this one, where a regime of good eating cures heaps of problems....
