Default Anyone with hypothyroidism, PCOS or hashimoto's disease doing Cohen's??

Hello everyone, I did Cohen's 3 years ago and lost almost 20 kilos. And now I'm going to do it again. I still haven't decided though whether to get a new program or not as t is a bit expensive. I might try and do my old program first and see if it works. Hence, my question above. If anyone has been diagnosed with these and has taken a new program then I will definitely get a new program. Any input will be appreciated thanks!!

hi SB.....I can't comment on any of those conditions, but as far as new program or not goes, I can........the clinics seems to recommend that you try you old program for a couple of weeks and see how you go. If your losses are good, and you're not starving like you'd like to eat your right arm off, then it's probably fine.

I am second time too and went for new program......post pregnancy, so I figured hormonal changes would have been huge........

Good luck!!!

Hi SB. I'm a second time rounder post pregnancy also. My first go was 3 years ago almost to the day! I tried my old programme several time and never got past a couple of days. When I started my new programme it was so easy in comparison. As the clinic said, trying to do my old one was like trying to do someone else's. But most certainly try it out for yourself first...good luck.

Hi SB. do you have hashimoto's? are you taking any medications? how's your thyroid funcion test? i think you should have clearance from your endocrinologist, before starting cohen's again.. As Hashimoto's causes episodes of hyperthyroidism, imbalances in your electrolytes and thyroid hormones. Health first, cohen second!

Natzzie, I was hypothyroid when I started Cohens in March and have since been diagnosed with Hashi's. Haven't experienced any problems, weight loss is 25 kgs in 19 weeks. Probably not as fast as other people but all things considered, I'm pretty happy with it. I did discuss with my GP before starting and he was happy for me to do it.

Wow, Jewel Congrats on you weight loss! You did a wonderful job, I think it is best to be monitored by your GP while on a weight loss program, whilst having other medical conditions.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS (at age 18 ), and have been overweight since puberty. I started Cohens on 17 March, and will be starting refeed in 8 days -oooh yeeah.

Cohens has worked for me so far, and is by far the simplest and easiest lifestyle plan I have ever tried (after dieting for 10 years, and trying everything).

My weight loss probably hasn't been the fastest, but I lost 22kg in 17 weeks, which I think is fine - took me more than 6 months to lose 13.8kg with WW in 2004.

Yip, chiming in with PCOS here!!

I have been diagnosed since 20 years old and I have found Cohens to have been working for me too.
Maybe somewhat slower at this stage, and slower compared to other non PCOS people, but working nonetheless...and I agree with McBell....well quicker for me compared to WW

Hey guys thank you sooo soo much for your input!!!! I've tried my old program a couple of times in the past but for some reason I got really sick, I'm pretty sure it wasn't detoxing it was really bad I couldn't really go past 1 week. Because my body/hormones is out of whack, I might get a new program just because the blood tests check our kidney function (I think) and they said if urea or creatine is high that it might be that the kidney is not functioning properly and both are out of whack. I am so serious about losing weight and I know only Cohens will work 100%. Jewel, thanks so much for your answer, I really needed that confirmation. I know with hypo your metabolism is pretty much gone and losing weight is almost impossible. so guys thank you!!!!!! I'm just waiting for my tax return and will certainly order a new one!!! I can not wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tests also check liver function I think too SB........

Good luck, I've never for a second regretted getting my new program, I know I've given myself the best possible chance of losing all the pregnancy weight.......now I'm just hoping for the best!!!!!

Hey SB.....I'm into week 18 now. Had 16 weeks bloods 2 weeks ago now.......3 july it was, so I've done ok. Slowed a lot this last month which after the cracking pace I set, then it's been a little frustrating........but I remember once....in my youth (oh I sound like an old hag now!!!!!) I lost 10kg on weight watchers in 18 weeks and I thought I was the ants pants.......wow......if only I knew the secret solution then....

So all in the perspective of life, absolutely I've lost fast, would have loved to keep that 7kg a month average I started out with though.......down to my last 12 or so!!!!! Have to admit, I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things, but it feels like AGES away.......
