Unhappy Nuts and Seeds

I am new at this, but could someone please tell me if you can have nuts, seeds, lentils etc on this diet. Also are yams (sweet potatoes) classed as "potatoes" I have not yet received my book, will do so on Wednesday.

None of the things you have mentioned above are in the allowed foods.

Hi Jean,
I think you'll find the 'snacks' on Cohen's are far lower in fat (crackers & fruit) and more digestive-system friendly than those you've mentioned. It sounds like this is a question pertaining to the difference between another commercially advertised 'clinical' program which only asks for a one off blood test at the start of the program, and the good Dr's program? Am I right? I hear that thiSS other program allows nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and encourages people to grind flaxseed up to eat with their yogurt etc etc. Same with the sweet potato deal - ok on thiSS other program, but not on Cohen's.
I think if I'm barking up the wrong tree, then I apologise, but the info won't hurt anyway. But if this is the reason for your questions, then it's worth knowing that Dr. Cohen's is the original and the BEST; and other programSS claiming to 'correct your metabolism' appear to be poor copies...
Hope this helps,
Ruby

Question

But aren't lentils, chick peas etc a good source of protein, my daughter who is a vegan uses them as her only source of protein.

Hi Jean

You're right they are a good source of protein but they are also very high in carbs, that's why we don't eat them on Cohens.

Jean, there was a discussion about the differences between Cohen's and another, somewhat similar, slimming programme that does allow the items you mentioned, which you can find here: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5353.

This programme works unbelievably well (note my ticker, and I had long ago given up ever getting back to this point). Once you complete it you can eat those products again. However, for Cohen's to work properly, you must eat only the foods that are permitted. Dr Cohen doesn't explain his reasons for most things, but there's not doubt that he has a 'magic' formula.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

So...this makes me wonder - how do vegans cope with Cohen's? I guess the cheeses are ok, but I would imagine it would be difficult.

Chailee, vegans don't eat dairy or eggs. The only protein option for them would be tofu. It would be very boring. I believe Dr Cohen does take that into account when preparing the plan for vegans and vegetarians. However, I wouldn't expect to find many fat vegans.
