Good shopping hints for Brisbane required
Being in my late forties, and daughter #2 only recently a local, I don't know if she will have a great idea hence I would appreciated if any Brisbanites could offer some suggestions? I am trying to stay away from black, classic clothes - more a little bit of colour, little funky but suitable for my age. Thanks WB |

Re: Good shopping hints for Brisbane required
Hi WB, I have some shopping suggestions for you.
Bris CBD has lots of great shopping in the Myer centre, along the Mall, in the Wintergarden, Queens Plaza and Broadway arcade just to name a few. You'll find everything from chain stores to designer and every price range is covered. Fortitude Valley (5 mins from the city) is great for retro, funky clothing or try the markets on Saturday in the Brunswick St mall. Lots of alternative as well as some mainstream clothing options. Prices reasonable at the markets. Chermside shopping centre (nth side) is the biggest in Bris and caters for every possible clothing taste and cost. It has both Myer and David Jones, all the chain stores and lots of designer stores. Wear comfy shoes, it's almost a full day of shopping and easy to get to by bus (Chermside Buz No 333) from city. I love Chermside, just down the road from my place. Carindale shopping centre is almost the same as Chermside, only difference is that it's on the sth eastern side of Bris. Paddington has some beautiful shops from retro to chic and can be a little on the expensive side (that's just my opinion). But, it also has the most amazing views over the city and lots of wonderful cafes & restaurants. West End is only a 10 minute walk over the bridge from the city and nestled behind southbank. Again there is lots of funky and alternative stores as well as heaps of cafes etc. Southbank Markets are on Friday night till 10pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. Sells mainstream & alternative clothing and usually buying direct from the designer. Prices reasonable. DFO (direct factory outlet) Jindalee (western suburbs) - you can get there by bus from the city and all the stores are factory stores with 'factory prices'. Plenty of variety of stores from mainstream to designer. Indooroopilly shopping centre (western suburbs) is a smaller version of Chermside and has Myers and most of the chain stores. I hope this info helps you WB and I have to say that we are having the most spectacular weather atm. Clear blue skies, warm days and chilly nights. After typing all that I just found this website and will give you lots more info. http://www.informationcentres.com.au...ing-spots.html Hope you have a great time in Brisbane! Jewel |

Re: Good shopping hints for Brisbane required
Many thanks Jewel - I really appreciate all the information you have supplied - it will help streamline the shopping expedition . I am so looking forward to having a little time to browse - which I haven't had for a while. It will be nice to have a long weekend in Brisbane - have only ever really visited when traveling to the Gold Coast so looking forward to spending time in the city.
I am glad to hear the weather is nice - at the moment it is cold and drizzly here and forecasting heavy cold showers for tomorrow. WB |
