Default Skim Milk

Hi i was just wondering if any one knows the answer to a question i have always wondered about skim milk (lite start milk - no fat).

Just wondering if any one knows why we can have plain yogurt that is on our list but why we cant have non fat milk in coffee or tea. I dont have tea or coffee cause i dont like it black but have always thought yoghurt would be worse than a dash of skim milk.

Can anyone help

Thanks

Annie

Hey Annie

I have always wondered this as well, as I am not a fan of black tea (i'm not a coffee drinker).

To combat the fact that I cant drink milk with my tea, I have resorted to drinking herbal teas, especially Peppermint tea.

I cant get enough of it and dont miss drinking milk at all!!

Ok I am only guessing with this one but other than the standard answer of 'don't question the good doctor' I suspect it could be to do with the lactose/lactase (I get confused which is which). Same with cheese. The reason I say this is because as a child I had a severe allergy to dairy products - but could eat cheese and yoghurt. And I think that was because of lactose/lactase. But I am not entirely sure. All I know is cheese and yoghurt were the only things containing milk that I could eat so to me that says the body processes them differently from milk......

I don't have any answer to you question but if yogurt was not allowed, I would be quite upset because it was the only thing that resembled milk to me, so I don't feel that I miss anything dairy. Overall this diet is so balanced that I can't have any excuses!

yeah, i think milk turns into somekind of sugar or is like a combo of sugar and protein-since it is fermented when it is in yogart -i think the process removes the sugar or what ever badness lurks inside of it.-kind of like on atkins you can have full blown cream in your coffee but no milk.

Ahhh I thought it was about the protein in the milk. We're not allowed to mix our proteins and I know I'd have milk in coffee at any time during the day, not necessarily at a meal (not to mention the mixing thing) which would interfere with the 5 hour rule. Just my thought on it
