Default Indian inspired beef

Indian inspired beef

Recipe Description
An indian inspired beef that can be made slightly saucy with the use of half a tomatoe, or plain.
Ingredients:
Beef strips
Onion
Capsicum
1/2 tomatoe (chopped, no skin)
Celery (optional)
Indian spice mix (psuedo garam masala)
Cumin
Pepper
Cinnamon
Ginger powder
Ground cloves
Chili powder (optional)
White vinegar
Water
Preparation Steps:
Slice onion, capsicum and celery
Remove skin and seeds of tomatoe
Level of Difficulty:
Easy
Time Needed:
15min
Serves:
Instructions:
Cook beef in hot pan with spray oil until browned.
Add onion and allow to brown slightly. Add all other vegetables (full allowance) and allow to cook.
Add spices whilst vegetables are cooking, a shake of each should suffice, and add a dash of vinegar (approx 1-2 tbs) and the same amount of water.
Allow to cook down for 1min or so, to allow water and tomatoe to make a sauce for steak.
Plate, and enjoy!
* Also works well will full peice of meat, although I use strips purely for speed

Glad you liked it!
I have to say, the first few times I made it, I seriously overdid it with the chilli, but have learnt I'm cooking for 1, not 4, so cut it back!

Hi All,

I've noticed that when using rump for the beef in strips it's best if everything is cooked before you put the beef in, and then quickly cook the beef to avoid making tough.
My suggestion would be switch step 1 and 2.

It's also nice served with 1 cracker in substitute of a papadom

Enjoy

Just a note on spices... Harris Farm have a wonderful range of dried herbs and spices, whilst I can't remember the brand name they come in little blue plastic bags, rather than jars.

They're all cohen's friendly as they don't add any rice flour or gluten or anything else that's not on the program. I bought moroccan seasoning and it has nothing but herbs in it. SO much better than masterfoods.

Hey Soon to be slim,

The spices listed are the mix, but for some reason it doesn't show that way when I type it up, sorry!

Thanks v. much for this recipe, I had it for tea tonight and it was delicious. I wouldn't have thought of using cloves and cinnamon but they really make it something special. I have been searching for new recipe inspiration, i'm on day 17 and getting tired of having the same old thing. Will add this to the fave list!
