Default Scubagirl's Diary

Hi All
My name is Scuabgirl as one of the goals for losing weight so I can return to scubadiving. I started the program very successfully in Feb and lost 10 kilos. I love the program and feel very energised. I went on holidays in late March to the Cook Islands and whilst I didn't stick to it 100% I found myself making choices mirroring the Cohens program. I have come home and spent some time with family and back to work to an extreme deadline when I first walked in the door. This meant solid, long hours the first 3 days. I have completely fallen off the wagon. I have returned to emotional binge eating of old. I know how well the program works and rang Cohens today and they suggested I join the Forum. Making the move to do this and writing/sharing what is going on I do feel a better. I have also rang a very supportive friend who has offered me some wise words of encouragement. I am also going to join the diary.
I will succeed and I am now trying to look at this setback as a learning process and get to understand the emotional triggers that have been set off. Thankyou to anyone who has taken the time to read this.
I look forward to sharing my progress and the big thing for me is not to give up. I can do this and it is very easy.
Best wishes
Scubagirl

Welcome - You have come to the right place for support - and sometimes you even get a bit of "tough love" from some on here. Stay plugged in and get yourself a ticker so we can cheer you on with your journey.

Oh and if you can keep the 15th May free (its looking like that date is the goer), we Brisbane people are getting together and that is always motivating - just to share stories (and even clothes lol).

Hey
welcome, and best of luck for your journey. Good idea joining this forum - there are plenty of people to give you support, alot of knowledge to gain and most of all somewhere to ask questions and have everyone come to your aid. Basically use the forum to vest, question and most of all enjoy talking about your journey to a new you.

Best of luck

Hi Scubagirl,

Don't stress - you are not the first person who has totally fallen off the wagon. As we say in the forum - draw a line under it - learn the lessons and gifts that come from the experience and get back on the bus!

Take a look at these:

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7521

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4925

Check out the Cohen's honour roll for motivation and then some of the diaries od those who you feel drawn to - perhaps someone who has a similar amount of weight as you to loose:

http://newyouforum.com/forum/view.php?pg=nyf_hof

The FAQ is another good place to chack as well as the stickies in each section - the threads at the top with sticky beside them.

If you would like this to be the start of your diary just let me know and I will move it for you. Would you like the title - Scubagirl's Diary.

Good on you for not giving up.
Shanara

Thankyou Louise, Shanara, Lets Get Started and Mum Chum for posting responses.
This is my first experience with a forum and I found logging in and reading all your kind words and encouragement really wonderful and supportive.
Thankyou MumChum for the information about the get together, I have popped the date in my diary and looking forward to meeting other people on the program.

Thankyou Shanara, I have applied for a diary and would love it renamed to Scubagirl and popped wherever is best. This is my first experience with a forum as mentioned above so any tips etc would be great. I also have found the links you provided very good. I have printed the articles out and will read again tonight.

Today I had a work lunch I had to go to and with my new found support and renewed self confidence I chose an Italian Beef Salad Salad with Balamsic Dressing and ate only the Cohen based friendly salad and left the remainder on the plate. It felt so gooooooood. I am back. Yipeee.
Thanks again to everyone and look forward to chatting. I am on the road again to achieving my goals and one of my rewards - will be back in the water diving somewhere really fabulous by the end of the year! I am thinking Palau in Micronesia. One of places I have always wanted to visit and dive.
Best Wishes to everyone

Oh Wow Scubagirl, my sister is a scubanut and I've always wanted to try but have been "a little too big" to be comfortable in a wetsuit. I am working up to a course in Thailand in 2012! Of course by then I will more than fit into a wetsuit.

This forum is an amazing place for support, encouragement and experience, don't be shy, we all understand what it is you're going to go through...... keep Palau in mind and don't stop untl you get there.....Caro

Hi scubagirl and welcome! My husband and a couple of friends are also into diving. It is great that you have a goal to motivate you, to keep you on the straight and narrow. As all of the others have already said, you will have heaps of support on this forum, and you will also have any questions answered that you may need help with. I lost my first 30kgs before I knew the forum existed, and was starting to struggle. Once I was given this forum's info (by my clinic- probably the same one you go to! ) I was able to continue my journey way longer than I probably would have by myself. It is great having friends who understand what you are going through!

I hope everything goes well for you and I will follow your journey with interest, and hopefully see you at the Brissie gathering!

Cheers
Jenny

Hi Scubagirl,

As we haven't heard from you for a while, I wanted to "bump" this diary, then direct you to it via PM.

You see, as you are first time in a forum, you might have lost track of where it is. It happens.

Your diary is now approved, but I was reluctant to move it to Personal Diaries just yet. They are easier to "find" in New Diaries, so I've left it here for now.

Once I see you are "back in action", let's talk about shifting it then. For now, let's let you learn more about how these things work in an easier place - New Diaries....

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Thankyou Hushpuppy, I was lost and still am a little bit. Will do a little more exploration and hopefully become more proficient.
I had a weigh in this morning with myself and so excited I am 90.2. Almost in the 80's yippeee.
So close and can't wait to flick over - very good motivation.
I have just picked up some Cohens friendly curries and looking forward to mixing it up with them.
Appreciate you setting this up for me.
Ciao for now

Hi Scubagirl

great to have you back. Let me know how the curries are - haven't had a chance to go get some yet!

Here is another thread that may help you:

and has a few links in it so you don't have to search for info.

Cheers
