I totally agree with Waves - our heartfelt prayers and thoughts are definitely with all in Christchurch. I can't begin to imagine the pain and heartache being experienced by everyone at the moment. It certainly helps put everything in perspective.

Well, I've got a new thing for the "You know you're on Cohens when......"

- you boil an egg on the bbq on a frosty morning so the 7.1 earthquake doesn't throw off your weight loss for the week!

hahaha.. and I thought I was the only one really worried about sticking to plan

I ended up having a proper coffee with milk and sugar last night. (I haven't had any coffee since starting coz I just can't do blk coffee)

I was just into my second week of Cohen when we were hit by this 7.1 earthquake, I was home alone as my husband was away for the weekend, I was so traumatized I froze to my bed and did not move until daylight. after that time I cant remember very much other than coming down to my lounge and finding my china cabinet had emptied out and was smashed all over the floor. My son turned up and took me to his house, before we left I just picked up all my food I had planned for my programme and I am very pleased to say I have stuck to my plan almost perfect other than missing one meal on Saturday and not drinking all my water, as water was restricted and also we had waste problems so I did not want to use the toilet too often!! Thinking of all other Chch Cohen followers, it is not easy but just hang in there and stick to your plan as much as possible.

We have had a very quiet day here regarding shakes but about 5 minutes ago we just had another aftershock, it is one week tomorrow morning since the big one. we are all over the shake rattle and rolls, we all just want them to go away now!!

I can't put myself in your shoes but wonder if focussing on eating right gives you that one little thing you CAN control? Water - you can catch up on it when it is safe to drink - just don't get dehydrated!

Hi everyone I have just found the below press statement, I hope it helps to ease peoples fears:

Two earthquake scientists say the chance of a magnitude 6 aftershock hitting Canterbury is lessening day by day.
Since last Saturday's 7.1 quake, there have been 10 aftershocks stronger than magnitude 5 on the Richter scale, 72 bigger than 4 and 238 measuring less than 4.
A Victoria University professor in geophysics, Martha Savage, said at a public lecture in Wellington on Friday that the strength and number of aftershocks are waning, and will continue to do so over the next few months.
Ms Savage says the odds of a magnitude 6 aftershock striking the Canterbury region are now one in 10

the richter scale has not been used since 1979 ( by seismologists, one cannot control for journalists)
it is now the moment magnitude scale ( MMS) This is a measure of absolute energy released at the moment of the quake. It is not comparitive -that is although the scale is very similar to richter it does not rely on comparison with previous quakes but only on the energy released at the time- this makes it much more reliable as a measure of true impact
