Default Still loosing weight

Hi

Has anyone had the experience of still loosing weight during maintenance?

I lost a couple of kg at the beginning of refeed and then stablised, went up and down 200 or 300g.

Now on Day 5 of Maintenance I have dropped 1.5 kg in three days!

Never thought I'd say this but - I don't want to loose anymore weight!

I attempt to eat everything on plan from the last days of refeed and I've even had a couple of glasses of wine and extra plain biscuits.

Any suggestions?

I remember another girl who kept losing weight on maintenance. I think her diary was katiefrank. What a nice problem to have

Hi cathbug,

As Louise said, what a nice problem to have !!

Aaahh, OK - but did you ask you body what IT wanted? Sounds like you are eating right on Maintenance, and your body is determining where IT wants to be.

Your ticker tells me you at a BMI of 23.9 (which is at the higher end of Normal range) so you are certainly not going to become "underweight" any time soon. From my observations, Dr Cohens "usually" sets goal weights between a BMI of 21 and 23 for most girls - of course, your goal could have been set higher for a particular reason (I'd have no knowledge of that). e.g. you might be quite tall, or older, etc. Your ticker of choice doesn't tell me much....

Do you have a particular reason (that you are happy to share) why you don't want to go any lower? It might help us to have a better idea of where you are coming from.

Are you weighing those "last refeed day" amounts? Or just eyeballing them? (I believe the directive on Maintenance is to cease weighing your food). This might allow "a bit more food one day, and a bit less the next" - all good practice for your body, I would think....

In general, your Maintenance is sounding very successful - good work (of course, it is "early days" on Day 5 - but it sounds to me like your body is happy to shed a bit more). Do you really want to fight it?

Hey Cath - allow me to clarify Marks obtuse suggestion!
If you get yourself 'in the family way' you will no longer have to worry about losing weight on maintenance Although in order to actually conceive I suspect you would need to do a little more than hang out with another pregnant chick !

Hi

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I can see the sense in all you say. I think I was so nervous about starting Maintenance and thought one bite would result in a 1kg gain overnight. I did not deviate AT ALL for the 8 months I was on Cohens so the relaxing of the guidelines is a little scary.

I did stop above my Cohen's goal because I was ridiculously hungry (stomach eating itself, dizzy etc) and I really thought I looked awful - grey, gaunt. I am the single mum of a two year old and life was becoming unbearable. Not at all fair on my little boy or anyone else. My clinic was certain that I would PUT ON weight before the end of refeed but maybe I was right to listen to my body and it is settling itself to where it likes.

I admit I'm not really a big carb(rice, potatoes, pasta) eater, bread and sweet things are my issue. Also I am not fussed on bananas. All my fav fruit are "old plan" fruits.

And... I'm running approx 6km four times a week.

It is still early days so I will wait and see, and experiment a little more.

I've never had this body before so it will take a while to get to know each other.

Thanks

Catherine

Seems to be a fairly common fear - in fact, you'd need to eat FIVE end of Refeed days worth in one day to put on a Kg. BUT, reaction to some foods, for some people, can add "water weight" (which goes again really quickly once back to CMF - Cohen Maintenance Foods). Have a read of the Maintenance Diaries and you'll get the idea...

Again, quite common, Cath. Just take baby steps for the first few months - try new things one at a time, and allow a couple of days for any "reaction". With those "Maintenance Guidelines" you'll be sweet.

Good girl for listening to your body !! Again, some people need to do this, but certainly not all.
Quote:

Hmm, what an interesting thing for them to say But then, they may have info that I don't. As I said earlier, MANY things can have different people settling at different goal weights - age, sex, shoe size, height, nationality, other physiological things.... Even two girls, same age, same height can find their bodies settling a few Kgs apart from each other.

You certainly got that right, Cath - keep on with that, and you'll settle into Maintenance nicely....

Smart thinking !! Reminds me of one of the very earliest "gems" - here:-

See especially post #2 !!! That could be you talking, yeah? And I love Lonniecee's comment re the "sensitivity" of her new slim frame !!! How true, eh? And one to ponder on if ever the Devil on your shoulder whispers for you to "bust out"....

Softly, softly, Cath - you'll be fine,

Koh

Cath, further to Koh's comment about not being able to gain a kilo overnight unless you eat a massive quantity of food, similarly you cannot lose 1.5 kilos of body weight in three days on a normal food intake without extreme exertion. Most of that 1.5 kgs has to be fluid loss. Give your body a while longer to adjust.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).
