Re: Fish oil supplement
Don't think so dorper, it'll have some sort of other additive that is unlikely to be plan approved in my opinion. I'd play it safe and go with odourless without any flavour.
Vanilla is generally not allowed on the program. |

You are so right Collie. I have previously asked this question at my clinic as I was petrified I'd be tasting fish all day ... the vanilla ones are not allowed on plan!

Re: Fish oil supplement
With the odourless though, I promise you there's no fishy taste at all......perhaps that's why they're called odourless????? LOL, maybe tasteless would have been a better description??? LOL.
Blackmores odourless is the one I take at the moment, but also tend to get whatever is on special in the odourless variety. Umm, the non-odourless are truly revolting though. They repeat on you endlessly, then just make you feel sick. They do however cost about 1/4 of what the others do, but the good ones are worth the investment. Evening primrose oil is also one recommended by my clinic, my consultant offered it as an alternative if I wished. Also, some people round here seem to take flaxseed oil as another option...........some of the NZ ladies from my memory. But don't quote my memory, it's not always accurate!!!!! |

Re: Fish oil supplement
Well I never thought of fish oil caps having a bloody caveat on them too!!!! I am taking Krill Oil which is stronger and better than fish oil, same deal but does more. No odour, no bad taste and definately doesnt repeat on me. They are exxy though $20 for only about 30 tabs. so Im due to buy some more. They havent affected my weight loss and seens Im not having blood tests then I will keep taking them.

Re: Fish oil supplement
Hey Bronnie... I wonder if thats what makes your losses slow down? If you're having more of the oils than the good doctor suggests then maybe it could affect things? Like the difference between 1tsp of mayo and 2!

I take flax seed oil. A couple of drops on my yoghurt each day and no after taste.
I'm not a great fish/seafood person so dislike fish oil. These work well. |

Re: Fish oil supplement
I decided to go with the flaxseed oil. When I went shopping it was on special so thought I would give it a go.

Re: Fish oil supplement
I did not suffer any of the above from blackmoores fishoil tablets, but I do have a cast iron stomach.

Re: Fish oil supplement
Hi All
Does anyone know the recommended fish oil amount we are meant to take daily? I think I read somewhere that it had to be under 500mg...but I could have that wrong. I emailed my consultant but she said she personally takes one per day, and attached an info form about fish oil, but it didn't have like a max amount you should take daily.... I ask because I re-read my plan and it said take one only per day for fish oil, but my fish oil recommends a daily serving of 2 capsules, which is 2000mg! Does anyone have fish oil bought from the Cohens clinic, or that was recommended to them by their consultant? COuld you tell me what the dosage is on that? Cheers M |

I know my linseed oil tablets are ok, and they're 1000mg, once a day...

Re: Fish oil supplement
If you suffer from the after taste even though they are odourless then try putting them in the fridge.
My friend that works at the chemist gave me that wee tip and it's worked wonders for me!

Re: Fish oil supplement
Oooh so good, thanks BB!! I stopped taking fish oil because of the aftertaste.... Now I have flaxseed. Next time I need to stock up I wont be afraid of the fishy aftertaste!
