Default It's all new to me!

Hi everyone,

My name is Michelle and I have been on Cohen's for nearly 2 weeks (week 2 weigh in tomorrow afternoon) I lost 4.4kgs in my first week! I know I won't lose that kind of weight again in the weeks to come but it sure did make me feel like this program can work for me. The only thing I'm struggling with is the socialising! No drinking wine It is going to be so hard over Christmas and New Years, I also have 2 hens nights and weddings to go to in January. Can anyone give me some tips for how I can cope? I love a good party and am feeling so left out already!

Thanks!
Michelle

Hey Michelle!! Welcome!!

Awesome first week loss!!

Saving your soda allowance for social situations is always a good idea... As is drinking out of fancy glasses. haha. I was never much of a drinker, so I'm not much help. Also, you could be the designated driver.

Hey Michelle

Welcome and congrats on your awesome first weeks loss! Your clothes should definitely being feeling looser already!

In terms of social situations, when I am on Cohens and "in the zone" as they say I don't have a problem being around food and drink I can't consume. I do always act as sober driver, and anyone who knows me from the last few years knows that I "can't have just one", so are more understanding when I say I can't have any because I am driving. I also take diet dry ginger ale, as it looks and tastes a bit more fancy, and I still drink water in between my diet drinks, like I would if I were drinking alcohol anyway.

Also, I just become slightly more of a hermit, and decline a few more invitations - especially if it is going to be a late night, what with having to have breakfast at 7am every morning (can't wait for refeed and a sleep in once again)!

Anyway, glad things are going well - keep up the good work!

Thanks guys! So nice to know there is lovely encouraging people. I'm so glad I stumbled across this forum, I think it's really going to help me.

I think you're right, being a hermit for a while is definitely the easiest option for me and then when I do go socialising making sure I have some soft drink. Dry ginger ale is a good idea! I had sprite zero the other night but I found it so sweet, surprising what 2 weeks without sugar can do huh?!

Wow you are both so close to your goals, how exciting! I'm feeling a little daunted having 36kgs to lose. Feeling very determined tho

Don't worry - we were once in your shoes, feeling our numbers to lose were really big, but Cohens is the fastest way!

I remember commenting that it took me 6months of WW and hard out exercise (running 4km 5 days a week, hitting the gym at least 5 days a week for a minimum of 40min cardio, and half an hour of weights) to lose just over 13kg - and I did that in like 8 weeks on Cohens - 8 weeks vs 26 weeks! The time is going to fly for you!

I will fully support you being a hermit.

I am a total hermit, Michelle!! We're like caterpillars in our cocoon and soon we will emerge as beautiful butterflies!!! hahahahahaha. How corny is that?! hahaha

Dry ginger ale tastes very fancy schamncy!!! It's a real punch in the taste buds too!! I have some on hand, but only bring it out if I need to shock my tastebuds!

Oh and I was very much in your shoes at the beginning... we all were. Looking at the long road ahead was a bit 'argh, what's the point?!'... but truly, it FLIES by!! Most everyone says 'I can't believe how fast that went' when they get closer to the end.... The time will pass anyway, might as well make it useful!!

Welcome Mickey,

Great start for you, well done!! To start your own diary, its best to read through the thread directed at "New to the forum", This will explain how to set up a diary, bascially start your own thread in the "New Diary" section of the forum, but you also need to submit via a link (can't remember off the top of my head where it is, but I'm sure someone will post it in here ASAP if I don't find it in time) Until the moderators find the time to move you to the personal diary area, you just keep writing in that one, sharing your thoughts, feelings and asking questions if you have them.

Enjoy the feeling of your clothes getting loser and loser each week. You'll find your throwing clothes out left right and centre in the months to come. (Great problem to have of course )

As a big party girl who loved to drink I can tell you the social aspect has been the hardest part for me for sure!

I constantly debate each event in my head "is this worth deviating for?" I've deviated twice on purpose, one was my 30th birthday back in july and then I did again this weekend just gone as I went sailing on a tall ship for part of the international fleet review. Both were memorable and very special events but I probably could have managed without the alcohol... It is a big weak point for me though!

I don't really recommend deviating at all ever but hey I guess **** happens!

Learning to say no and/or finding ways to participate without food and alcohol being the central aspect has been super difficult for me. Im an extrovert and kinda get down if I don't see friends and family enough. But slowly and surely I'm finding it is getting easier...

Lol I don't think I've actually given any advice really... doh... I guess I just wanted to say I struggle too but am somehow still finding I'm getting through it all ok 95% of the time!

Thanks everyone,

Cazspaz, just nice to know there are others that struggle in the same way I guess, in this together and all that Only deviating off the program twice is amazingly good going! If I can say that in a few months time then I will be super proud of myself and so you should be too!

I remember my consultant telling me that the no alcohol rule was the thing people struggle with the most!! And it's the most questioned part of the program.
