The "Special Occasion" Trap!
Every couple of weeks or so, there is a 'special occasion' in my social life that almost always seems to pop up when I am on track and going great guns, losing weight and feeling really good about myself. This is the kind of situation I find myself in quite often. Maybe that says a lot about me and my friends but hey, my care factor is: zero - zippadidooda!! Anyway, my friends' parties have such delectable friends like Jimmy, Jack, Johnny and Jose (yep, ALL my favorite men) present and accounted for. The kind of parties that give a Special Occasion the special treatment, where someone has actually gone to the trouble of making multiple cob loaf dips and where corn chips and salsa seem to have made love to each other and created the perfect guacamole! I'm talking about your little brother's wedding, your little sister's first baby or your first orgasm! - That kind of special kind of occasion - the one that you travel 10,000 miles for, give up a lung for or sell a kidney for! What in the world do I do with all this temptation! HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS! Especially when the most influential people in your life want to celebrate with you. Let me tell you what happens to me physically, firstly, my mouth instantly waters and I get an almost aching tingling sensation at both sides of my jaw - my mind speaks to me and says in a primitive manner and says something like - I NEED TO CHEW SOMETHING AND LIKE - NOW! So, I instantly notice that I a want to feel my teeth bite down on something delectable, juicy, chewing and satisfying. HOW IN THE WORLD AM I GOING TO OVERCOME THESE FEELINGS! Good question - any suggestions - other than tying myself up and/or locking myself in myself in wardrobe? I think the moral of this story is that - drinking alcohol makes you hungry!!!!!!!
