Default Meagain's refeed

Ok, so after 2 weeks of hunger I finally got my refeed from clinic. (Not my delay, I was asking.)

I worked out from this forum I should split my fruit allowance up and have it at different times to my meal - my consultant never suggested that. With that tip under my belt, I have been able to go from 69.1 kilos to 66.8kilos (my scales, which when I took them and weighed at the same time as clinic scales state that they are 800 grams over, so 66kgs). Starting weight was 95kgs, Cohen's target 62-65kgs.

I have also been able to actually stop feeling soooo hungry by splitting up the fruit and cracker breads. I got my refeed on Tuesday 7.09.07, didn't look at at as I had my husband's and daughters birthdays, so didn't want to try and refeed with all that going on.

So I have sat and read and reread it, I think I have got it worked out (I certainly didn't get a 45 min consult on it, it was here it is there's day 1, 10, 17 voom out you go). So Sunday, 23.09.07 is the day. It is a 21 day refeed, so should be finished 12.10.07.

Now that I have got it, it's actually a little bit scary.

I will post and let people know how I go.

Any questions just jot them down and we'll do what we (those that have completed refeed) can to help. It is scary but it will be worthwhile. I found writing out your daily planner was so helpful as was rereading the information attached during the refeed process.

Good luck, you must have been gnawing on the furniture. Well done on your loss.

Best thing I did was write out the entire 16 day menu plan that I had. Then went to the super market and weighed/bagged/froze every meal. A lot easier to deal with while on refeed.

If I were to do it again, I might actually make allowances for the skim milk or beer/wine that is allowed, but that was too hard to gauge at the beginning.

Hi Baloo, Lauren,

thanks for that.

Question one:
should I mix it up as much as possible?
On program I have tended to stick to the same pattern and food.

Question 2
When you add bad fruit, do you take out good fruit?

I mixed it up as much as I could for Lunch and Dinner. I kept to the same breakfast (except for adding toast at times) because egg and yoghurt were not including in the extra protein groups.

I added the Good new Fruit and Bad new fruit on top of my usual allowance. I'm not sure if that was right but I think that's what they told me.

Same here with the fruit, by the end of refeed I was having 4 pieces of fruit a day. Wow!

hi meagain
my consultant recommended to mix up the food choices, as this (as i was told) helps your body adjust to different types of protien combinations and variety as well.. however, this being said, i too (like Baloo) stuck to my delicious breaky of yogurt.
and yes, you must add the fruit to the original plan i.e you would 2 apples (fruits from you orginal plan) and 2 pears (fruits from new plan)

I found refeed a lot of fun and satisfying.. hope you do too
goodluck

Excuse me for interupting hehehe Just wanted to ask you guys a question too.. Im day 3 of refeed and finding its alot of food to consume now.Did you guys find that . I actually dont feel hungry enough to eat 3 pieces of fruit or the extra crispbreads and I havnt had the bread seeing Im not a bread lover anyway... As each day goes on, do we HAVE to eat everything they add on for the day. Will the refeed still be successful if I dont eat 4 pieces of fruit ect when i get to that stage.

As I understand it, we are supposed to eat all that is specified so our bodies learn to cope with a) the extra amount and b) the new foods. Can you spread it out over the day more?

One more question- if you do have the milk, and it says take out 40 grams of old protein and you have to add 80 grams of old protein, can you just add 40 grams of old protein to have the low fat milk?

Is skim milk low fat?

cheers

Kaz: Lonniecee is right, i also struggled wit all the food, i felt that my stomach was going to burst, but after awhile u get used to the amounts of food, i started exercising while on refeed and i found that this helped me cope with the amounts of food as my body was able to digest and settle quicker..

meagain: yip, so for the total day u will only have that additional 40g protien and 50ml milk added to your original plan.
skim milk is not the same as low fat milk: skim milk has virtually no fat in it while low fat milk has 2% fat- so try opt for the skim milk (aka fat free milk)

Meagain,

I went to goal before I started refeed. Mainly because I had to wait for my re feed program. The clinic advised me that it was fine to go to goal but as soon as the hunger or fatigue kicked in, start re feed . One day I was starved and the next I wasnt hungry but all of a sudden I could have chewed my leg off and ate it. Plus all those not so good foods were all of a sudden looking real good to me.
Im no expert but I dont see why you cant go for goal if you are feeling fine.

Kazzar,

You are an expert - you made it to the end and are now doing refeed.

That makes you as expert as my consultant.

It was just I whinged and whined so much about hunger and tiredness, now I am just tired at the end of the day, but not so much hungry.

Either way, it's only a day or two away.

My refeed is 21 days long. How long is yours?

Cheers
