Default Cracker question

I know there is a ration to the crackers, but I can't recall what it is, by hypothetical example I mean:

1 Ryvita = 2 vitawheats

Can anyone remember what the ratios are? I'm up to my eyeballs in vitawheats and I need a change but I know it's not a 1:1.

cheers
Curvygirl

Default Cracker question

On the internet plan it talks about 11.8Grams of crackers per server (= 2 standard crackers ) what do they weigh? Could the same weighs be used?

I currently have 4 Nabisco squares each meal which is the recommended and weighs 12 grams (scales would round up 11.8grams to 12grams)

There is a helpfull link to Dr Cohen web site

http://www.1stpersonaldiet.com/crackers.htm

On it it says that you can eat 2/3 of a Ryvita cracker bread for every 1 cracker on the diet. I guess if you eat 2 crackers at a meal then you can eat 1 and 1/3 a Ryvita cracker.

Cool - thanks for the responses and the link Lessfatty.

I'm giving the Paradise lites a go, they seem to work well in cooking too.

I've also got some Premium Lite/Original, but I'm concerned with how much salt they have on them, will have to look for a low-salt version.

Curvygirl, just be aware that the Paradise lights changed name to Vive lights still by Paradise but the recipe changed so the new Vive's are now a deviation. Does that make sense??
Premiums, and Saladas are the replacement, you might want to check with your consultant.
I can have 5 servings of crackers / day = 2.5 sandwich size saladas or 5 premiums or 5 Vita weet or 2.5 ryvita.
Saladas are nice on chicken and beef too.
Good luck

Default Cracker question

I have another crispbread query.....and since i cannot contact the clinic till Tuesday, I will put the question out here.

I have been eating the premium crackers as my crispbread of choice. Tonight at the supermarket i thought i would give Salada a go. I realise Salada has 4 squares to one biscuit, premium has 2 squares to one biscuit.....

How do i count 1 crispbread module? Is it a square or the entire biscuit with the perforations.

Makes me just wanna eat vitawheat.

Would appreciate the advice

My understanding is that one large size is actually 4 squares, which is equal to 2 Cohen crackers. I can have 6 crackers/day which means 1 1/2 large size per day (1/2 per meal).

Another good way is to weigh the cracker, a 6 gram cracker is standard cracker, so if the cracker weighs 24grams then you are holding 4 standard crackers.

Oooh, am I SO HAPPY that we have Saladas now.

Gosh I love them.

I have one at 10.30am, then another one at 3.30pm (with a piece of fruit) and half of one at 8.30pm (with my second piece of fruit).

I look forward to them more than I do the "real food".

Me too asy, I really look forward to my saladas, am varying a bit at the moment and eating vita weats for a change but have another box of saladas in the cupboard just waiting.
Xanadu a sLF has said, 1 x sandwich size salada (ie 4 squares) = 2 cracker serves. I have 5 crackers per day so I can have 2.5 sandwich size salads or 10 small crackers. Try to enjoy the variations given in crackers esp as they can be a bit of a treat and we don't want to get bored with our foods. Keep up the good work.

My easy tasy option with the cracker/cheese/veg meal is when I have it for dinner. I cook the veg in a frypan then add some water and mulch it all into soup. I use mozerella on the crackers and melt them under the grill. Yummy soup and cheese on 'toast'!

That soup and mozzerella idea sounds delicious, curvy girl. What veggies do you like to do? I haven't made a soup yet..

I usually use 1/4 tomato, 1-2 mushrooms and make the rest of the weight up with baby spinach, once they've cooked for a minute or so, I add about a cup of water to the pan then take it out and mulch it - I have one of those hand blender thingys.

The great part is, if you want more soup, just add more water. The 1 cup I use makes a thick soup, and just about fills a ramekin.

Enjoy!

Another Soup Icame up with is Prawn Laksa.

Essentially:

Fresh Prawn Allowance (which is a lot).
Curry Powder (get the good one Keens that is pure spice and not rice powder)
Then Vegs like:
Cauliflower, onion, spring onions, little tomato, cabbage, zuchinni stringed, etc..

I marinate prawns im curry paste first
Add water, mix and drain paste into pot
Add vegs to cook say 15min.
Then I add prawns and water to suit another 15min.

As a added flavour bonus I retain the water from draining tuna from another meal and use that as soup stock instead of pure water.

Fresh Herbs on top and presto, not a bad Lasksa.

Also good for getting water intake up which I struggle with.

I'm surprised at how many of you love Saladas or any crispbread for that matter!!
I reckon I could go the rest of my life without eating a crispbread once i've finished the program. YUK! I eat them, but they are definitely my least favourite part of the program.
I rotate between all of them, because I end up hating the flavour and texture of all of them after a few days. So, then I try a different brand, and by the time I'm finished that box, I'm ready for a different brand again!
Yuk!

I look forward to my salada lights, I enjoy the crunch. One of the reasons I'm overweight cos I love chips (crisps) and crackers etc, it's a tactile thing, I think. Every now and then I try to vary my crackers but I always go back to the saladas, they seem to have more flavour to me.

I love salada.

They're the only ones I eat.

Quite frankly I can't keep up with which are and aren't allowed, and I know I can eat either the green or blue salada boxes, and that does me just fine!

I'll keep eating them after the programme, no problems at all.

BRING ON THE SALADAS!
