Question First few days on programme

I started a new programme today, or should I say tried to start until I got a severe headache, early afternoon, it got so bad that I couldnt eat anything for rest of day, I know that it is a detox headache, has anyone else suffered the same on the first day and if so, what did you do to continue on, i'm so down about not being able to complete my first day. I would appreciate any feedback.

Hi hope, welcome to the program. My headaches lasted a few days, but I found that some panadol did help me get through! This is a great program and if you persevere you will be very happy with the results

Hi Hope,
I actually vomited at work on my first day from the unusual water consumption combined with the caffeine withdrawl and had headaches for a few days, but once those few days were over, it has been easy, peasy, lemon squeezie.
Stick with it, don't get down, we all went through some unpleasant stuff for a short while, but it goes away and so does the fat!
Good luck.

Hope welcom to the forum and your new journey to a healthy and happy you.

It is always a bit hard in the first few days as your body starts to adjust but it very important that you eat the food as it is on your plan from day one.

Yes it is hard but YOU MUST NOT SKIP MEALS OR YOUR SNACKS and you must read and read your plan a stick to the times and amounts exactly.

Yes everyone has a withdrawal from sugar in the first few days and it is tough and yes I have had the same all day today and yesterday as I put on weight over the Christmas break so even to go back on the plan after losing over 70 kg 8 months ago I have the withdrawal headaches and the slightly off feeling so don't throw the towel in - it will ease very quickly after a couple of days.

The more water you can drink the better you will be as it helps flush the toxins from your body as well as it tends to give you a satisfied feeling as well.

All the best mate - your in the right place for help and support that's for sure
and it is a great forum with lots of inspiration for you.

All the best.

Andy

Hi Hope,
I suffered some shocking headaches the first 4 days.... I found regular panadol and loads of water helped me get through. Also I would recommend eating all your meals and snacks... otherwise your headaches won't resolve. I also had to take myself to bed in the afternoon to 'sleep it off'.
After 4 days I felt so much better, its hard those first few days, cos if you were like me I was a big Diet Coke drinker (2L + a day) so I had a big caffeine detox to go through..
Stick to it, cos it will get better and the program does work (just finished my first week and lost 6 kilos)

keep going, I'll get easier!
Paula

Hi Hope
Welcome to the program and i had the exact same as you. The first afternoon i had the worst headache ever and couldn't eat as well. Despite analgesics it just wouldn't go away. I, too, couldn't eat so even if i was hungry, i wasn't even aware of it so bad the headache was. Late afternoon it subsided and that was that. NO more detox after that st afternoon. No cravings and only on a few days when i've had too much artificial sweeteners, haven't had hunger pangs. So don't worry..u not alone!

Hi Hope,

Yes I had the headaches too and only get them now if I OD on artificial sweetners. Are you having your multivitamins? They are really important. Try having an extra multivitamin and a panadol with lunch. This helped me through the detox period.

Good luck

Hi Hope
I started this week too! Welcome on board! This is the most welcoming place for support... it is great that you have spoken up and then to read how lots of others have suffered too.

I have suffered regularly from debilitating headaches like the one you describe, and my suspicion is that I do not eat correctly for my body - too much sugar, not enough sugar, too much caffeine, too much bread and carbs - so, I am hoping that this return to basics - vege, protein and fruit, will help me to work out what it is that gives me headaches! On the first day, I had the wrong yoghurt (too much fat, sweetened), and it started off my headache!!! So, even now being hyper aware of the food going in (because the types of food are restricted, as are the portions), I know that it will help me to "nourish" my body so that these headaches are a thing of the past.

I am so looking forward to being on the journey with you - keep up the honesty and success will follow!

Fi

Hi Hope, stick with it....the headaches are only for such a short time and the results you will be seeing so very shortly outweigh this not so pleasant detox period. You will be so impressed with your losses that you will forget you even had the headaches in a few weeks. Check out the pre and post photo threads to get you through the first few days, and see what is really possible with perserverance. We are an amazing bunch of supportive people here on this forum and together we can move mountains.

Merryn ..
