Default Forget about losing weight!!!

Now I have everyones attention lol lol

Here is something I found in an excellent book I have been reading and discusses the "REAL" issue in being successful on Cohens and ALSO on maintenance...

'When you go on a new diet whats your main focus? How much you can lose But what you really need to do is stop thinking about losing. It is very important to understand this. While you continue to focus on losing weight you are focussed on what you don't want. You are focussed on the negative. You must if you are to succeed, stop being obsessed about losing weight. The problem is when you lose something, your unconsious mind works at finding it again. Forget about losing weight and focus on what you do want;

becoming slim, trim and terrific
reaching your ideal weight
being full of energy and healthy
looking great

Unfortunately all diets overlook one key ingredient; the power of the mind. The inability to think slim is the reason that 95% of people fail on a diet

Think Slim - Mark Stephens

Hexi - I completely agree! We have to look forward, to reach, to gain... all the sub-conscious mind doesn't comprehend negatives... so psychologist types and goal setters say.

So, if we are continually saying - I don't want that chocolate... all the subconscious hears is "want chocolate"... I don't want to be fat... "be fat"

So...
I want to be healthy
I want to look great
I want to feel fabulous
I want to be slim
I want to eat those veges
I want to weigh my food
I want to reach my ideal weight.

THANKS HEXI - great post.

Great post Hexi- very true. I try to use that same philosophy through out my life (when i remember) It has been shown that if you tell a child not to drop something, there brain just hears "drop it" and thats what they do, we should say, carry that carefully. Focus on what you want and you will go towards it. focus on what you dont want and you will move towards it - Our brain is a very powerful tool!!!

Yes, I agree, that was a good post Hexi. If all diets/programs came with a re-conditioned brain implant, no-one would have any issues!

Great post Hexi!

I knew that! LOL
I just keep forgetting it with the wanting to stay slim forever and the doubting of myself to maintain it!

Fi, you forgot to say
"I want to be drinking 2-3 litres of water a day"!

Hexi, I read something similar in a book many years ago. The author said to think and talk about becoming slim rather than losing weight, because normally 'losing' something is something that we don't want to do.

Another thought from the book I read is to use the word 'fat' (and 'getting fat', etc.) rather than the euphemism (gaining) weight. Fat is a much more negative word, and therefore provides more incentive to change the state and become slimmer.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Guess it is important to watch our inner dialogue and also our language.

I love this!

I want to be looking good in my clothes.
I want to be feeling this good and better in my skin.
I want to feel in control and happy with my eating and drinking habits, always.

My daily mantra, maybe with some refining, from now on I think.

i have found that positive affirmations said out loud every day are gr8 for motivation and keep me focused.

Examples of affirmations are:

I am a healthy 56 kilos
I release the need to hold on to excess weight
I am happy and grateful for who I am right now
its training your brain to get you to where you wanna be..working like a charm for me
