Less than 10kg to lose - Can Cohens help me?
I am new to the Cohen concept and am wondering if this is the right plan for me. I used to be 100kg and have managed to fluctuate between 80-86 kg for the past few years. I have come a long way but my journey is not complete and everyday is a struggle. The calculator guide indicates that I have 7 kg to lose which may not seem like a lot to many people. It may sound silly, but this seems like an absolute mountainous amount to me. (I also appreciate it is just a 'guide') While I am not clinically overweight at the moment (am on the peak of a yo-yo downswing), my body fat is an unhealthy 33% and I feel very embarrassed by my body. It is only a matter of time before the weight piles back on and I am overweight once more. I have been fighting weight since school and this has to stop. Can this program help someone like me with only a small amount of weight to lose in comparison to many others on this plan? Your comments are much appreciated! |

Hi Beany,
This plan can help everyone!!! There are quite a few people here with not a huge amount to lose. I am not one them, but everyone is really friendly so I am sure you will get some more answers. Good luck with whatever you decide is best for you. Rach |

Beany,
I have a few questions before I answer if that's OK You say your goal weight is 79kg ... how tall are you? In my calculatiosn that would make you around 180cm with size 10 feet or similar.... is that right?? Your body fat percentage is 33% at your current weight ... how are you determining this percentage? Lastly are you active - and how active? ConnieK

Thanks Rach.
Hi Connie, I am 183cm tall with a 12 foot (v hard to buy shoes!). hehe The 33% fat figure is coming from my dreaded bathroom scales. I am not very active - I work in retail 2 days a week on my feet and that is the extent of exercise that I do. I have had gym memberships in the past but have never cracked the 80kg mark. |

Hey Beany,
OK .... thanks for that ... just being informed well in short I would say Yes cohens can help you .... for two reasons 1. It seems that if you have been to the gym and been watching your diet for years and not lost it all, your hormones are not balanced ... so cohens can definately help. 2. Cohens focuses on reducing fat stores by targeting hormone production - hence no need to exercise on the program ... it's one of the only ways you can do it without exercise. and on another note, don't rely on bathroom scale readings for body fat % ... they are a guide only based on impedence. If you truly want to know body fat % you need to be hydrostatically weighed. ConnieK

Thanks for your reply Connie. I should really throw those scales out the window - terrible for the self esteem!
