Is Pak Choy the same as Bok Choy

Stick insect has been wonderful and planted a heap of cohen friendly vegies for me, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, even some capsicum, and what he thought was bok choy, he has just discovered that what he planted was actually Pak Choy, does anyone know what the difference between Pak Choy and Bok Choy is, and if Pak Choy is allowed? It is ready to harvest and looks so yummy.

Wow so nice of him! Yes Pak Choy is allowed! It is listed in my program (singapore one) and I have the Taiwanese variant of Pak Choy almost everyday!

Thanks DP, I appreciate that, nice fresh, home grown vegies, how good is that, yummo. And yes it is very nice of him, I am just a bit concerned about the amount of tomatoes we are going to end up with, I can only have one a day, and there are only the 2 of us, I think he has about 15 plants, all different varieties, our friends are going to love us, free tomatoes everywhere.

hehe shanara, I am sure they are from a much bigger family with a surname like that.

Don't worry giddyup, the bugs and fruit flies will get them long before you do. At least that is my experience of growing tomatoes.

Oh I hope not, stick insect has gone all out, he has bought a heap of those topsy turvy planter thingys, I have upside down tomato planters hanging everywhere under the outdoors entertainment area, he goes out and talks to them a couple of times a day, and wants me to do the same thing

Come on giddyup. If it's good enough for prince Charles then surely it's good enough for you too. Play them some classical music as well but give the heavy metal a miss.

My fiance had all intents to convert a back patch of our yard that was made into a kiddy sandpit by previous owners into a cute little greenhouse/vege patch for me....still waiting...

Although if he started with the baby talk to me I would slap him stupid

Gremlin maybe you should get some of these topsy turvy planter thingys they seem to be really good, the plants are growing so strong and healthy and they are up in the air so safe from ground bugs, ants etc and pets, and they don't take up much room which is a bonus. And yes he is trying to be sweet, being a stick insect he has no understanding of the complexities of what leads us to become overweight, this is his version on being supportive and helpful, even if the obsession with these plants is a little left of centre hehe

You should get a photo of your face blown up and stick it on the outside of the planter

Well it's very sweet that he's trying to be supportive, and it's a good productive way too!

I have been eyeing up those planters since they came out! I've seen them used for tomatos/capsicums/chillis...all of which I'd love to grow.

A friend of mine said to be careful though to reinforce the hanging wires if you get a cheapy or they look flimsy. Her tomatoes grew and were looking scrummy but before she had a chance to pick them the wires gave way and they fell to the ground and got all smooshed
